With Cologne Grand Siecle, Pierre Guillaume revisits the time-honored cologne genre paying his respect to the great eaux de cologne of the past. For the sake of complete authenticity, the perfumer limited himself only to the organic ingredients that would have been available to his 18th century counterparts. The citrus and herbal notes representative of the traditional cologne formula give the blend a harmonious, elegant, classic feel, while the infusion of the sweetly-piquant cardamom, wheat and the creamy floralcy of ylang ylang puts an unexpected, modern twist to the composition. The base of dry woods and vetiver has a very attractive earthy feel; it adds weight to the potentially transitory cologne notes and allows the scent to linger on the skin for a long time. Satisfyingly substantial and long-lasting, simultaneously refined and robust, this bright and pleasantly spicy citrus scent will be delightful in summer (and so very agreeable in colder, gloomier months) and is destined to become a hot weather staple for men and women alike.
