Just what we’re always on the look-out for – a vanilla scent that is sophisticated and complex, but still delicious and comforting. Vanitas opens with a chilly dose of myrrh, which is almost medicinal at first, but as it warms on the skin, its deep, resinous sweetness emerges and blends with the creamy warmth of truly excellent vanilla. Delicate orange flower enhances the high notes, and sandalwood adds a dark golden bass line – but the heart of this accord is the exquisite pairing of vanilla and myrrh. The myrrh adds mystery to all the luscious qualities we love in vanilla and brings in a dark sweetness that is not at all food like. Happily, it adds just enough of a cool edge to keep things intriguing, but not enough to overpower our beloved vanilla. Soft, enveloping and tantalizing - this is the grown-up vanilla we’ve dreamed about.

This is a very rich vanilla scent. Great silage and longevity, as with all Profumums. There is an orange note interwoven, but the myrrh and sandalwood keep the composition from becoming sickly sweet or cheap smelling. I'm not sure how I feel about myrrh; it does certainly have a bit of a medicinal smell. Definitely worth a try if you are a Tihota or Lea fan (imho Profumum makes some of the best quality vanillas available; bottles are easy to share also).

This, on me, is delicious, rebellious vanilla. It actually makes me think of Havana Vanille, and I was surprised that no alcooholic notes were listed here. I would also love to smell this on a man. I generally feel like wearing this when I'm feeling very sexy, relaxed, empowered and kind of secretly mischievious. (A bit like Havana Vanille but where HV is slowly, lazily sipping a syrupous exquisite golden drink, on a deck, in the summer, with the sunset warming your neck and chest, Vanitas is an isolated simple cabin in the woods in the fall with your lover, feeling the luxurious white fur throws on the sofas on your naked bum, the rough wind coming in and not giving a damn, and strangely enough, at the same time, evokes cuddling near a cracking fire with polar throws, for me.) Very evocative perfume, simple notes that smell like something instead of smelling like "perfume".

If you like Angel face by Ava Luxe and Lea by Calypso St Barth - this is the same kind of vanilla. Lovely .

yuck!!! I had really high hopes for this perfume but they came crashing down once I tried this on. As the review says, the top notes hint towards a medicinal odor and for me that medicinal feel never leaves but gets blended with a vanilla which really doesn't work. I don't even know what else to say, it's a total scrubber for me.

wore my sample today and could not stop sniffing - actually I didn't have to try. This one stayed on all day and I could get whiffs throughout. Fabulous - the most lovely vanilla I've ever tried. never a big fan because they always smelled too candy like. This is gorgeous - sexy and soft. This is the second of this line I've tried and another beautiful scent. Wish the price point was a bit lower. I will probably get a decant instead (love the bottles - sigh)

Profumum is a very hit and miss line for me, but when it is a hit, they are near perfection. This is my favorite "grown- up" and "chilly" vanilla. I think this one is very unique. The vanilla used smells almost identical to the vanilla in aqua e zucchero, but the scents are very different. Vanitas is zuccheros older, more sophisticated sister. Aqua e zucchero is more of a delicious candy floss, vanilla berry scent. I love them both dearly and my preference is completely dependent on my mood. If you love this vanilla but want something more gourmand, Aqua Z might be your hg. Dulcis uses a different vanilla (mexican) and it smells like bubblegum on me, so its a miss on my chemistry. I would still like to thank profumum for having so many wonderful vanilla options- and of course luckyscent for making the impossible to find fragrances available.

a more interesting and long lasting tihota at the same price but 3x+ the size. would highly recommend as tihota was a long time favorite but this just wins!

This one has gotten under my skin--it's really beautiful. I wouldn't recognize myrh if it was applied to the tip of my nose, but if that's what makes this so gorgeous then myrh it is! That said, I'm not buying until Luckyscent sends me my sample of Farmacia's Vaniglio which won't be available until 'The Italian's return from vacation.' At this price point I need to select only one high end vanilla. Mmm, I smell good.

I have been smelling every vanilla I could for the last 10 years looking for the "one". Well, here it is. I feel like this smells like a beautiful pale blonde wearing head to toe black. It's sweet but a tad lethal. I have never recieved more compliments from a fragrance. People beg for it's name. I give it but then they find out how expensive it is, but it's also 100ml. It's a big bottle but sadly in 3 months I've used 3/4ths of it. But I will be buying a replacement which I hardly ever do of any one fragrance. It is truly a work of art, in fact if you go to Profumums website you will see there dedication. I'm in love, can you tell?!

Profumum Vanitas is gorgeous! If you are a vanilla fan, then this is a must try! To my nose, it smells very similar to Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561 Vaniglia del Madagascar, but with a "kick" - I think it's the myrrh. Yes, it's a sweet vanilla, but the myrrh gives it a cool and crisp aspect, which keeps it from becoming sickly sweet. The sillage is strong, but it's not in-your-face; rather, it's quiet (but not as quiet as Farmacia's VdM) and slowly tiptoes out into the spotlight every so often. The lasting power is phenomenal and I only have to apply once in the morning and it'll last all day. I have never smelled a "chilly" vanilla, but I must say, I love it! I will definitely purchase a full bottle once my wallet recovers from my recent full bottle purchase of Indult's Tihota! :op

I'd say sample this if you like Tihota or the vanilla accord in the Comptoir Sud Pacifique scents.

This is a many-faceted vanilla, at once sweet & chocolatey, yet with a bitter orange note. It's nice & comforting, but La Maison's Noire du Mexique is very similar & only a quarter of the price!

This is a far superior version of Serge Lutens' Un Bois Vanille but without the jarring coconut and burnt sugar notes. The vanilla and woods are better balanced here, making this the best creamy vanilla I've ever smelt. Longevity is excellent too. Yummy!

Another great release from Profumum. It starts out sweet but calms down soon, turning into a comforting blend of vanilla, myrrh and sandalwood. Grown-up vanilla scent.

Beautiful fragrance as most of the Profumum fragrances are. I must agree, it starts out sweet, not overly, but the sandalwood and myrrh soften this fragrance out....very nicely done grown up scent.

I found the LS description to be very accurate. I am a huge Profumum fan and I like this one so far. Vanilla and orange flower seem to be the dominant notes and the myrrh and sandalwood come out later making this a more grown up vanilla. I my have to invest?

First, let me say I am a lover of Profumum in general. Vanitas is soft, the vanilla and orange flower take over in the initial application....and is very sweet for the first couple minutes....was hoping for more myrrh and sandalwood....which does start to pop out later...but very softly......will continue to test this one....but I doubt I will invest in this one....
