The majority of essential oils do not improve over time. A notable exception is patchouli – which becomes richer and more refined as it ages. Suzanne Lang has done us the honor of crafting a limited run fragrance around a particularly lovely patchouli oil, vintage 1998. Like a jeweler designing a setting to set off a superlative gem, she has built a scent that shows off this gorgeously evocative patchouli that has been aged to mellow perfection -- blending earth and air, sensuality and transparency. Exotic woods, brisk spices and a hint of dark chocolate add the finishing touches to this dreamy take on patchouli which has a cool, otherworldy quality that is both sophisticated and beautiful. This is an unusually soft and serene spin on patchouli, but it still has that intense earthy sensuality that makes patchouli so divinely distinctive.
