Padparadscha
Eau de Parfum
by Satellite

The Scoop
A new jewel in our collection, appropriately named for an actual gem-- the Padparadscha, the most rare of all sapphires, which glows with a pink and orange fire as if a spectacular sunset has been trapped inside. We smelled this on a friend and became immediately obsessed, begging for the name and swearing that we would hunt it down. It was worth the effort. A fiery blast of pepper eases into glorious warmth: sandalwood, cedar and musk melt into an enveloping fragrance that is sensuous, yet genuinly unique. We can give you a list of what it is not: fruity, sweet, foody or floral. It is harder to pin down what it is... soft, but spicy; dramatic, but not overpowering; elegant, but easy to wear. We are absolutely in love with this. Beautiful and modern.

Begins with a blast of the juniper and pepper, the cedar and musk quickly emerge in the background. As it settles and dries, a lovely strong sandalwood aroma comes through with the amber and musk softly behind. Overall quite dry compared to most fragrances I purchase, I originally bought this sample to try layering with some of my vanilla scents, but found that I am quite happy with it on it's own. Very different from any other woman's scent I've encountered and I believe this could be equally lovely on a woman or a man. Still unsure as to whether I will be purchasing a full bottle, but will use and enjoy my sample for sure, I will reevaluate once it is gone.

I purchase many perfumes including Poeme, Narcissco Rodriguez and other assorted somewhat expensive fragrances, however this scent is by far the absolute most intriguing and sensual perfumes on the market. I originaaly bought the sample to see if it is worth buying, I can tell you that this is well worth the cost and will be my new signature scent.

I really wanted to like this one. I am a fan of sweet, foody scents, though, and that's not Padparadscha. On me it smelled of cedar and juniper more than the other notes. Sophisicated, hot, oriental, but not for me.

Loved it at first sniff,,,invitingly spicy, sweet but not cloying and o so mysterious. I agree, however, with other reviewers that obvious staying power is minus. It settles into your skin and you have to "try" to find it after an hour.

It smells very similar to Les Nereides Oriental Lumpur. It's like walking through a Morrocan spice market on the way to an Indian restaurant. It smells highly of cumin and greenish peppers, but there is a sweet accord which keeps it from the kitchen. I would call it intruiging, but it's not going to be everyone's favorite. It is, however, one of mine.

I received the sample as a gift... I love it! It is spicy, a bit sweet, but also incredibly sexy. I could still smell it "around" me faintly in the evening without reapplication during the day. It reminds me of the picture of Sharon Stone at an awards ceremony with the exquisite black ball gown and men's white gap button down shirt on. A contradiction. A true paradox. Yet it works effortlessly!

I saw the mixed reviews below and still decided to try it. I'm quite disappointed at how quickly the scent fades. Beautiful, beautiful bottle, but not worth having to reapply over and over.

I like the smell of pepper and incense, and even though it goes on strong, it settles into something quite delightful. For peppery scents, though, I still think you can't beat Isos by Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561.

This reminds me very much of Estee Lauder's Cinnabar. A more complex but unfortunately fleeting version. Does not have the staying power one would expect from such a striking scent.

This was wonderful in the vial, and it really blew me away on application. The intensity faded somewhat on drydown, but I am still in love. I have a few in this same vein, so I am thinking this type of scent is something I love so much I am bound to keep repeating it. It is only because of this that I am hesitant about a full bottle. On me it is pretty close to Ava Luxe's Palisander. I will have to get all these scents together and test them at the same time to figure which is best.

love love love. my fav scent for 20 years was Knowing by Estee Lauder. I just ran out and ordered 3 new scents from this site. Padparadscha ( how is it pronounced by the way?) just did it for me. I would wear this all day and all night long. The best test for perfume is the walk away. Put it on...talk to a friend..then walk away...ask the friend - did you like my perfume? If they say..yes - I didn't know you had any on, but then you walked away and it was heavenly...that's the perfume for you. This is especially good if you work in a close environment, you wouldn't want to overpower anyone with your perfume. This scent passed the test. The scent is warm, invigorating and inviting all at once. I have found my new scent.

Upon first applying it was overwhelming. But after a few moments of drydown, it smells wonderful. Like some mentioned, this is not a scent for daytime. Wear this in the evening and prepare to smell delicious. Has a bit of an incense quality about it but definately does not smell like anything else out there.

Ever take apart a pine cone in the mountains and get the sticky sap on your fingers? It's a high sweet, flat smell that makes your palette feel full and you might want to taste it? It's a crystallized sap crust kind of thing. Pepper, maybe if it's pink. Run of the mill cedar without the churchy annotations. Compare to the potent cedar of Shiseido's Feminite du Bois if you want to ruin everything. This is Cedar Lite. This sandalwood is real dry and smoothed down, and the scent is figgy and classy, reddish-brown. This is an overcast day scent, for scoping out discount bookstores or passing out Halloween candy in new England. Just remember, it's cone sap, not pine. The amber gives warmth, and the milk brings recall. Nothing animalistic about it. Good for cold air walks, and drinking wassail.

I tried this on a summery day, which may be part of the problem. First phase smelt mostly of cedar and spice, then just a strong sandalwood. Could imagine it on a man, or for a cold winter night. Wasn't very complex and seemed heavy without being rich.

Ok, I have to retract my original review completely. I have no idea what possessed me to revisit this scent as I really detested it, but on a rainy Saturday last week (bored out of my skull), I cracked open the vial, crossed my fingers and dabbed away like the little perfume tramp I am. Poof, love, lust and all things carnal danced before my eyes. I now adore this perfume. If you are timid, steer clear. Not for the meek. Granddad's carpenter shop no more. Buying a bottle ASAP.

Gahhh! Even after drydown, this was about as subtle as a cracked sledgehammer. May apply it to my cedar shoehorns. It would work on them.

Wow I must be missing something.....in vial it was amzing. But on me....this was awful! it smelled like I doused myself with cumin and black pepper and then fried my skin. Oddly enough - most seem to feel this fades fast.....but I couldnt get the scent to go away even after using rubbing alcohol and even resorting to taking a full on shower! Good thing for samples. Everyone is different. Try before u buy!

Misterious and unusual scent! On my skin it smells very woodsy, green, peppery and the slightest hint of flower, but just the green parts (which is odd enough since I detest flowery scents). I can also smell the warmth of amber and sandalwood. A VERY unusual combination of scents. Reminds me of an old wise woman in the middle of the forest making a spicy potion under the full moon. It can't get any more exotic than that!

Like a beautiful but fleeting sunset. Warm, dry and hypnotic but doesn't last long

Very warm scent. LOTS of cedar, not so much sandalwood (alas). Spicy. As others have noted, lovely dry-down. Likewise, it doesn't seem to have much sillage and tends to stay very close to the skin after the initial whoosh. I like it, but (so far - I've only worn it once) it doesn't offer the complexity or evolution that really excites me in a perfume.

This would be a five star perfection, but where did it go? It has no lasting power, if not for that, I'd fall forever in love, lol.

It would be everything I ever dreamed of if it would have more lasting power. As a reviewer below stated, perhaps they should come out with a line of lotions, oils, etc. I'd buy everything in multiples. As it is, it just doesn't last long enough. I'll still buy it, though. I'm in love with this one and my husband loves it on me too.

I LOVED the smell. Very complex and voluptuous, more woodsy than cedar. I even like the color! Only bummer is on me it only lasted about 4 hours and then gone...hate that!

This just didn't have the depth I thought it would. I love all of the elements of it. I'm sure on someone else it would be delicious but alas...on my skin it just smells like my grandfather's carpentry shop.

This is the perfect sandalwood scent. It has some spice in the beginning and everything fits into place and belongs with each other. I could have this as my one and only fragracne except the lasting power leaves a bit to be desired. Perhaps they should bring out a line with lotions, oils, and so on. I think they'd have a cult following, then. (and a longer last on the skin)

This is very good - dry, spicy peppery-cedar blend, with a great, surprising juniper note in the middle. It adds a greenness to the fragrance that reminds me of christmas trees and pine tree forests (it's not overtly christmas-y, though). This is one of luckyscent's best new offerings.

I like this a lot. This time the Luckyscent description is right on the money, couldn't be more on. It's sort of a dry, spicy scent. It wears very well and is surprisingly crisp.

I was in paris this summer and tried this scent on at the store (Satellite) while shopping. It has an exotic and sophisticated smell. Very unique... bohemian-worldly, without being too hippie-chick. Can't think of another scent to compare it to. Is not a scent for very young women, though - is more mature. I love it!

It smells better out of the sample than on me, too masculine or maybe its just the cedar that isn't making it on me. I don't no, but it's not for me to buy right now. The End!

It is a nice cedary amber. The amber and musk ground it while the cedar & sandalwood give it that earthy punch. The juniper & pepper give it an herbal, cool urban twist. It is interesting. To me it is "JAR Shadow meets Etro Ambra".
