The Scoop
Mellow and deep. An array of food notes meld into a sophisticated fragrance that is not at all foody, but strong and resonant. With diverse elements of citrus and spices, this seems like it might be sweet, but it definitely is no such thing. Thanks to the patchouli and amber gris, it has a soft earthy quality -- like prime, freshly tilled soil. Rich and full of possibilities. Destined to be a cult classic.

A wonderful green citrus aromatic gentlemans cologne. A great daily fragrance. Fresh, green and uplifting.

Am trying very hard to smell anything other than pepper here, and so far I'm unsuccessful. But I'm not complaining; it's probably *the* H.G. of pepper fragrances for me, even over Diptyque's O'Fresia, because it's a *pure* pepper. There's a little woods, probably the pepper shaker...lol! I love it greatly. I'm fascinated by the variety and range of skin chemistry reactions for this one though, judging from the other reviews!

Smells like pepper - both white & black - on me. Can't smell anything else, to be honest. It's not displeasing but certainly not what I want from a perfume. Maybe sexier on a man...?

Love this fragrance! This is the perfect combination of clean and fresh fragrance I've been looking for. It doesn't last long, but I like the fact that it's not too overpowering and stays subtle.

Ahhh, Baraja. This scent must be dramatically different for each individual, for me it is perfect. A scent that can transcend season, sexy yet fresh and stays with me through the day ~ each sniff offering another layer of loveliness.

I received this as a sample. When I put it on, it smells like Windex! That faded a little over time, but it was sort of an unremarkable mild lemon, and it still had some of that cleaning-product quality.

It smells medicinal at first, but it eventually becomes a little more bearable. It is too green or organic...I think of chemicals when I smell this, not perfume. Not sweet, alluring or soft, but for someone with an edge, like an executive woman who eats nails for breakfast. Not for pushovers.

I absolutely love this scent but wish it was more longlasting. I don't think it stays on me more than a couple of hours. It is unlike anything else though and I'm still happy I have it.

Much spicier and more unisex than I expected. The redcurrant and bergamot dominate. It's very tart, and in some indefinable way smells "European," not "American."

I enjoyed a sample and can describe it as follows: a delicious scent of sweet green lime juice (I grew up in Mexico) then rubbed by thick brown sugar granules. The lime juice is not lemony at all. Staying power is lasting and it is not over-powering at all.

I am absolutely floored with this fragrance! I've never smelled anything so PERFECT! The way the fragrance is balanced is pure genius. None of the notes stand alone...its like each note depends on the others to bring out unique elements you never knew existed in patchouli, cinnamon, vetiver, etc. My IT fragrance for life!! $115 a bottle is truly a deal for something so special. I love YOSH as well, but she can learn a few things from the mastery in this bottle :-)!!! Please do your senses a favor and purchase a sample of this yesterday. I wish I could describe WHAT this smells like, but that'd be like describing a color only I've had the pleasure of seeing....that's how unique and wonderful this scent is! I love it.

This smells a LOT like Creed's Royal Water, which I have loved for years. And it's slightly less expensive, so I might be able to come up with the money for the whole bottle instead of just samples before long! It's crisp and refreshing without smelling masculine and just a little bit sweet. Wonderful!

Full-bodied, fruity fragrance with just a touch of sweetness. Despite its gourmand notes, the scent is very wearable, even sophisticated. Like with Janca, I cannot smell many of the individual notes because it's so well blended. I can't even smell the patchouli nor amber gris individually, yet their presence grounds this unusual scent, gives it unexpected depth. I'm really impressed with the entire line

This fragrance is perfect for work - it's sophisticated, subtle, not too sweet, not too citrusy and definitely not cloying. There's a mysterious quality that sets it apart from other expensive scents my nose has been exposed to. It's expensive and smells like what an in-the-know fashion editor might wear, or a high powered business woman. Baraja reminds me slightly of something from Santa Maria Novella in Florence. I highly recommend it.
