Trompeur Perfume Oil
by YOSH

The Scoop
Shadows and lights, deceit and truth, super egos and dopplegängers all play a role in this fragrance. The sweet smell of vanilla opposes bitter earth. Massoia dances seductively to lure the innocence of fig. Sheer musk and fig twirl with sandalwood creating drama and delight. The balance of these characteristics draws you deeper into your Nightscape.
Trompeur Perfume Oil Notes

I have a memory of my grandmother making rose hip jam and the top notes of this remind me of it. I wanted to check if anyone else has interesting association and was expecting to read reviews about this perfume and not about purchasing power of the reviewers.

This is the original Heart is Deceitful perfume oil but with a higher pricetag. I love this perfume, always have, but would never pay this price. YOSH should have called it "How I deceived you"

I wore it to bed, and my husband woke up in the middle of the night saying, "Wow, you smell yummy!" Fantastic.

Bad rating because of bad ingredients. You all are asking for trouble with this bottle of YOSH...massoia oil is a bad ingredient for application to the skin. It causes rashes, itching and allergic reactions. In massage school, we were told to never use it in our oil mixtures.

If you guys only knew what cheap materials these synthetic perfumes were really made of you would really be crying about prices. This stuff is then washed into the waterways. Buy natural perfumes!

Again, another true gem from Yosh. If a scent were to become human this would be Bardot in her prime...Sophia Loren...Gina Lollobrigida - in the 50's. This is all WOMAN, no more and no less. A 'kicking' fragrance. I want it....BADLY, however I refuse to pay the stupid price. There is NO reason for that, so I'll make do with my samples - they work out cheaper then buying a bottle.

I find it heavenly- very complex! Rich, and quite entrancing. I am not a "nose", but I know enough about perfume to tell when one is superior, and this is. The price is admittedly prohibitive for most of us (and that includes me); they may have changed the name and/or upped the price, but I can't say I find any of this a sin in a free-enterprise system. I think Yosh's business managers are probably some pretty smart cookies. She herself is obviously a genius.

Anyone find it ironic that this is a Heart is... reissue after J.T. LeRoy was discovered a fraud? - maybe calling it "thief" was YOSH's way of expressing her feelings about LeRoy - who knows, that said, even if you can afford it - you'd be crazy to spend so much on so little perfume - and unremarkable perfume at that

This is absolutely pathetic. I will never buy from Yosh again. I did buy and enjoy a sample of the *original* the heart is deceitful, and liked it although it's so strong I wore it only infrequently. But to dilute that and sell it at a similar price, then rename and resell the original at **double!** is beyond chutzpadik. And it's not even that original a scent! Shame on Yosh, and shame on everyone pooh-poohing our protests about the price. Clearly, luckmyscent gals will pay more for quality. The issue here is that THIS IS A TOTAL RIPOFF and not a little unethical as well.

I smell amber and something reminiscent of loree Rodkin Gothic I. Very, very strong upon initial application... drydown a bit more subdued. Trompeur is sensual, not too bad. It has more depth than Regina Harris' Amber Vanilla, but it lacks the animalic quality in Amber Vanilla that encourages me to love it a bit more thean Trompeur. It's true, "In comparison, all is lost", but for me, this just isn't love.

I find this scent fascinating. I haven't quite decided what I think about it, but it is unlike anything I've smelled before, which I like. It starts out quite bitter and citrusy, but then mellows into something sort of minty and fresh (at least on me) but it also has some depth, which must be the vanilla. I really can't describe it. Not thrilled about the price, but I do think that if you're going to splurge, perfume is worth it. I could probaby never commit to the large bottle, but I think I could do the smaller one (the smaller bottle could be prettier though). Also, I have never smelled the original "The Heart is Deceitful..." so I can't compare. If YOSH did recycle the scent and double the price, shame on her! I still like this enough to probably buy it eventually, though.

Just like a Mercedes and Porsche (sorry if spelled wrong) isn't for everyone, neither is this perfume. It is for those who are more concerned about what it's worth vs. what it costs. That said, you will never, ever smell anything this fabulous. I'm so Glad Yosh brought my beloved fragrance back and I will pay whatever she asks for it.

Thank you for being candid about the Trompeur - Hope no one was Trumped 5 Stars to Anonymous who gave this perfume 1 Star

This IS "the heart is deceitful...", for those of you who don't know...the reissue is a diluted version, so YOSH had to bring back the "limited" original, charge TWICE as much, and hope no one would notice. "Trompeur" means deceitful. Don't be fooled.

I am so sick of the boo wooing about the price of Trompeur and other Yosh perfumes. I would like to comment that these cheap girls should buy cheap perfume, and forget about the high price of fabulous Yosh. Leave Yosh to girls that can afford it! I haven't tried Trompeur yet, but if it is anything like The heart is deceitful it will be worth every penny.

This is the same scent as the original The Heart is Deceitful. I don't understand why it's even more expensive than before - and I never understood the original price i the first place. It's ridiculous to be asking people to pay this much for such a tiny bottle. I like this scent but will never, ever buy it.

The CHEEK of yosh to think she can actually more than DOUBLE the price of her other oils(which are overpriced, as well) Of course I haven't tried it...who has? I actually thought that over time, perhaps YOSH would lower the price!! I guess not, there must be enough people out there that have to "prove" that they can afford it, if not, miss YOSH would be in the poorhouse. I bought a bottle of Sottile on ebay for $70.00, which I think is a fair price, given the staying power and quality, and I'm on the hunt for a bottle of Whiteflowers, but you won't see me paying retail!!!
