I'm not sure why no one else has remarked on this yet, but more than anything else, this smells like a less assertive version of Comme des Garcons' original scent. Very spicy, and dissipates very quickly.

I think this might be better on a man, although its definitely unisex, i just wasn't wowed by it. I smell the spices (pepper/bay) and then a soft woody musk, nice but forgettable.

I'm a big fan of woody fragrances, but I would describe Costes otherwise: spicy and gourmand. It is a very beautiful and unique scent. The bay and coriander really come through in the bottle and on my skin. Any florals are muted, but I do pick up on the slightest hint of incense. Of course, the fragrance will wear differently on everyone, but on me, the dry-down is reminiscent of spiced apples.

Very nice, but wish it lasted longer.

Yes, Costes is a genderless fragrance. Maybe it doesn't last much on woman's skin. My girlfriend complaints of that, but on me last good enough.

I went to Paris and loved all about Costes. According to the seller, Costes is a fragrance for men and women, so I got a bottle to me. Perhaps as a man I have oily skin the fragrance last on me for hours. I always get compliments from men and women. Even my boss was dare to ask me for the name of my cologne!

a lot of hype but i am a little obsessed with the whole costes thing... on me, the drydown smells a lot like L'Artisan Passage d'Enfer. it's got that frankincense feel.

I really wanted to like this scent. And perhaps it has to do with my chemistry. It started out quite nice. A soft, almost rosy incense, light and very delicate, soapy, but not unpleasantly so. Incense, but soft enough to be more than a cold winter scent. But the dry down was awful. The only thing I ended up smelling was the soapiness and not in a good way. I was uncomfortably reminded of my Grandmother and her love affair with Jean Nate. While this might be a wonderful scent on some women, I would definitely recommend trying a sample first.

I love this scent. Only problem is that it doesnt seem to last that long on me. Would definitely recoment this for a woman - very sexy

I really like the scent a lot, but it disappeared after 30 minutes. I am beginning to think that I just cannot wear EDT, as I have the same prob with the whole L'Artisan line.

I SO wanted to love this scent after reading the reviews. Heck, I was ready to marry it, commit to the big bottle and the votive candle, the full commitment. On me, it smelled mainly of soap, and not fancy soap either. More like lifebuoy. It eventually dried down to kind of a leathery musk that reminded me of some 70's men's colognes. Must be a skin chemistry thing.

I smell rose, mostly, and it's a rose softened by something else I can't put my finger on. Very feminine, soft.

This is the best perfume I've found in years!

I need another bottle! It smells so amazing, so chic, yet so comforting, somebody at the venetian hotel in vegas stole my bottle! If people are resorting to stealing, that should tell you how captivating this fragrance is.

Spicy-herbal, heavy on the incense notes. I like it. It's sophisticated & a little addictive. If vampires existed, this is exactly what they'd smell like in human form. Spicy, androgynous, wood scented (think coffin wood), with a flowery sweetness just on the edge of being cloying. It's a bit of a dangerous scent.

Must be my holy grail of fragrances. Everything rolled into one. It's casual for sunny days and jeans, elegant for nights on the town in a formal gown. It's everything. Everything.

I don't understand the hype of Costes. It ended up smelling like cheap rose potpouri on me....Yuck!

Masculine? I don't get it. Unixex, perhaps. I do not, can not do masculine in scents. And many unisex scents people love come off a overtly masculine. This one is as feminine as they get. Perfect for every day wear, office wear, low key enough. Just exotic enough to wear out at night, also. It's a default perfection. I could wear this one every day. I'm in love with it. One of the best fragrance to come out in years. Don't miss a chance to try this one, you may just fall in LOVE

Lovely robust complex spice-wood fragrance. Clearly on the masculine side of unisex, but it's a very worldly and sophisticated masculine scent that is delightful on this lady's wrists - resinous and woodsy, but glowing with herbacious notes at the same time. Yum! A treat!

a sensual woody smell, very nice!

On me, I can detect most readily incense and lavender. This is so daring, but its not in your face. A sexy nightime fragrance.

As with most scents, this must particularly match your unique chemistry. I've worn it for about a year. People follow me - out of the post office, in parking lots, in department stores - to ask me what I'm wearing. And I am not a man. So order a sample and see if it works for you. It's quite special.

This is supposed to be a unisex fragrance, but it's definitely in the masculine camp for me. Very aromatic off the top, with a not unpleasant dill pickle effect. The rose note is metallic and old-fashioned. Dries down to a subtle spicy, powdery soapiness that could be attractive on a Euro-type man.

As the description says, very sexy! At first I wasn't so sure, but the dry down is earthy and warm, and smells divine. I don't like the price though.......

I instantly loved the smell of this in the bottle and on one of those fragrance strips-- very woody, spicy, musky like Ginestet's Le Boise--but when I dabbed it on my wrist and waited a bit it turned into a masculine scent on me (pout). I was disappointed, but I can imagine Costes smelling incredible on a man, though!

Just as the person said before me," Woody Scent" yes but, lasting power for me, once it dried that was it.

Fans if dry, woody scents should check this out! I love Frapin 1270, and even though this is really not that similar, the two scents share that dry woody quality which is very sophisticated. Costes has this herbal quality, in the beginning it almost smelled mossy but then turned into a warm and elegant scent. I can't believe the price for this EDT, since the lasting power is just ok, but eventually I see myself getting this scent. 2 stars for staying power and price.
