Charles Street, the latest from the consummate English Gentleman's Mark Birley fragrances, combines luxury and masculinity in an exciting, perfectly balanced fragrance composition. I am a woman and I love this scent. It smells like a rolls royce and raspberries. I think it's a really sexy scent for the colder months or a night out for either a man or a women. I tend to like deeper scents with a contrasting note. My everyday fragrance is Andree Putman Preparation Parfumee

i have to agree with Dr. Who...cigarette butts and rasberries...but, i like it...my wife said that i smell like an old ashtray...lol...after few minutes the ashtray kinda disappears leaving behind just raw pipe tobacco...

I posted first on Charles St. after I had tested it. I liked it very much. I now have it in the 125ml size, and it has been my signature fragrance for about a year. It is truly a marvelous mens' fragrance. It's rich, warm, and distinctive. It is not overtly sweet, nor is it offensive. It is in two words a classic masterpiece. Men while avoid unisex fragrances and want something out of the ordinary ho-hum "me too" mens lines should try this and buy this.

I feel like an opulent individual living in the big city when I wear this. There's a sweetness that aligns with a slight bitterness from the leather, and the result is something very elegant on a male. I'm gonna have to turn my sample into the full bottle.

I like this much better than the original. Very original and versatile. This would work great in any situation, formal or casual. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it doesn't project as well as the original. Stays close to the skin and longevity is just average.

Charles Street really surprises me as it is so different from the original Mark Birley. It is a very soft comfort type of leather along with some comforting earthy spices. Smells very contemporary with a nod to tradition.

Based solely on samples to this point, I would say that Charles St. is an excellent fragrance and IMHO superior to the original Birley. It evolves from a dry, austere, slightly rough fragrance to a warm, mellow, slightly sweet, almost barbershop scent over about hours. This is much more long lasting that the original Birley, and not having the strong carrot seed vibe, superior to its antecedent. This is a very fine mens' fragrance, and bottle worthy for the mature man, or the young man with a mature frame of mind. Or for that matter, any intelligent man. This is to a department store fragrance as a private jet is to Jet Blue.
