With Fleur de Liane, the fourth perfume in the Travel Series, which also includes Timbuktu, Dzongkha and Bois Farine, L’Artisan Parfumeur takes us to the island of Bahia Honda, in Panama. The tropical fragrance with its trademark luxuriant woody base is the perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour’s olfactory painting of the luscious greens, deep browns and dazzling pinks and whites of the exotic isle. The verdant, ozonic top notes perfectly recreate the humid atmosphere of the rain forest. The lush, creamy florals in the heart of the scent— magnolia, tuberose, frangipani— lend the initially fresh scent sweetness and sultriness. The fans of Duchaufour’s work will delight in the base notes of Fleur de Liane: the resinous, earthy notes of guaiac, vetiver, patchouli and moss, while wonderfully rich, have that indescribably transparent quality that we came to recognize and admire as Duchaufour’s signature.
