Chypre 1942 is dedicated to Italian film and stage legend Anna Magnani. The perennial toast of Rome, Magnani was known as "La Lupa" or she-wolf. Her fiery character and striking looks define her presence in classic films such as Wild Is The Wind (1957) and The Rose Tattoo (1955) for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Actress. Chypre 1942 proposes a portrait of Magnani directing her gaze eastward in observance of star patterns and the path of the sun. Interested in astrology and numerology La Lupa pondered celestial patterns and destiny. Enveloped in a cloud of chypre fragrance, the smoke from her cigarette traces Anna's unconventionally beautiful features; a countenance fixed in contemplation.
The perfume exudes a luxurious warmth and defies the expectations usually associated with a fragrance in the chypre style. Powdery notes of benzoin mingle with bergamot and mandarin in to create a soft, fruity introduction to Chypre 1942. Notes of tuberose form a passionate floral chord with jasmine and damask rose. Its spirit is unabashedly bold and feminine. The fragrance ventures into a territory of warm sensuality as vanilla, amber and tonka emerge in an Oriental composition. Chypre 1942 depicts an intelligent, fearless woman poised for adventure. A worthy tribute to Anna Magnani's fiercely independent style.
