APOM is short for “A Piece of Me” – “a piece of oneself that one leaves on others”, says Francis Kurkdjian. In other words: APOM might well be a kiss-and-tell, which doesn’t matter since the fragrance comes in a feminine and masculine version, both drenched in orange blossom as lusciously honeyed as a bite-sized oriental pastry.
Francis Kurkdjian had already featured orange blossom in a masculine fragrance, Jean-Paul Gaultier’s aptly named La Fleur du Mâle (“the male’s flower”, a slightly risqué pun on Baudelaire’s “Fleurs du Mal”, the flowers of evil). In APOM Pour Homme, he butches up the floral note with a smoky, balsamic amber glow... But this particular piece of man is still pretty sweet.
