Here's what other people are saying about Complex...
Not sure how this scent leans towards unisex. I do see the higher ratings to tend to be from men, which I can absolutely understand. I'd be interested to smell this on a man, but my bf refuses to wear colones. Personally I tried this right after a shower and after a minute hopped right back into the shower to scrub down. I don't know how to describe the scent except to say it was overwhelming and there was no way I could wait to see if the dry down would be acceptable for me to wear in public. Ladies, you might want to steer clear of this one.

#SorryNotSorry Robin the Journalist, you have no clue what you're talking about. Scent is not gendered. Our ideas of it are. With THAT out of the way, I am a woman who presents visually in a very stereotypically feminine manner, & I LOVE this perfume!! It's like dirt. But not too strong. It's very like Olympic Orchids Salamanca, but less harsh. My boyfriend LOVES Salamanca, which is hard for me to take, but he agrees that this is a nice, less aggressive version. By less aggressive, I mean that it doesn't dry out your nose the same. It just smells like dirt. Great scent, curiously addictive. Totally odd. Minus one star because I'd definitely have to be in the mood to wear it, and I think I could use a little extra time for it to grow on me.

Bitter, earthy, herbal, sharp, feral, complex. This is one of the most powerful fragrances I've sampled. In small doses, with time to develop, it really is fantastic. I'm still searching for my holy grail, but I'm delighted to try this and will get great use out of this precious little vial. The basil and sage are not the light sweet scents evoked from rubbing your hand through either plant; rather they are the concentrated oils that come from crushing the leaves. The leather and musk are well balanced and proud. It's like a tonic. A cocktail you order again and again despite of, or maybe exactly because, it punishes your taste buds in a way that keeps you enthralled and perfectly intoxicated. I can't think of a single person in my world who could pull this off as their signature scent. I certainly cannot. I can only play with it and delight in it knowing it is entirely some other person's life I am pretending at for a night. It makes me wish I spoke another language. If I were a sexy, secret spy adept at luring in dangerous men, this is what I'd spritz, ever so lightly, on my decolletage.

This is how I would imagine I would smell if I was involved in Metallurgy and tried to cover the odor with a fragrance I grabbed from my adolescent daughter's cabinet. It is quite interesting, but makes me cough and wheeze a bit. I appreciate the creative and intellectual attempt to be different, unique and provocative. However, I do not know if it is truly wearable. It might be okay to use as a "freshen up" for a sweaty athletic supporter, but I wouldn't want to go "out" smelling like this.

Very macho. After a scrubbing, began to resemble the interior of my 1960's cedar chest. A small spritz is more than enough.

Here's the thing: Complex is distinctly a man's cologne. It's aggressive, animalistic fragrane is totally inappropriate for women, which may explain the negative reviews. As a member of the more animalistic sex, this fragrance gets top marks for its unapologetic celebration of civet, musk and leather - a GREAT SCENT!

I forgot to mention: it is quite "harsh" when you first put it on but give it a little time.

Must be chemistry. I agree with Gordon. Violet on me. A sort of "dark" violet but unmistakably violet.

Don't think I've ever been so offended by a perfume before this. Maybe Serge's MKK. Shocking!

ô my.... suffocating and disturbing perfume in deed ! i can't quite understand the interrest of making a perfume out of metal chains when the descriptive evoke incense, violet, basil and sage ! even i 'm not that goth ! To help you understand the smell, i'll describe imagery that could give you some ideas...if you like horror movies, this perfume smell like an Hellraiser minions room! or, imagine a big spiky metal toy used in sado-masochist rituals...or, less crude but still...a winter crispy sunday after tchernobyl.....this perfume is more appropriate for an object. i dare you to wear this scent in a elevator... torture in deed ! Industrial Disasters have now a smell....

I bought the Complex and Seductive from London without sampling the product. I was absolutely disgusted with both, especially the Complex - smells like one has walked through a smokey bonfire. I would not even spray this down the toilet, it is so utterly nasty. I give this a zero rating.

Yikes. Weird and disturbing. Eau de corpse?

Oh my! I just can't imagine someone wearing this out in public...on purpose!! I don't mind skank or civet, but this blend is very sharp with too many facets and doesn't blend well together. If you want to smell like you're in need of a hot bubble bath or just got done running a marathon, this is for you!

Masculine with a VERY strong animal undertone. Not pleasant.

I was prepared for something strong and dark, but - call me naive - I wasn't prepared to smell like a sailor on the whaleship Pequod. When would I ever have occasion to wear this? The next time I sign up for a stint on a frieghter to Shanghai, I suppose. Pass...

dont let scentwoman's comment put you off. This is a musky masculine fragrance with a magnificent contrasting violet note. first class stuff, and totally original

Believe the copy when it says "you are warned." While this is interesting for a fragrance, it remind me of the smell you get while idling in traffic on a hot summer day while Cal Trans pours asphalt.
