If Je Suis Un Homme was around during his time, Napoleon would have surely doused himself with it before going into battle. Etat Libre d’Orange’s interpretation of the Emperor’s beloved cologne is confident, brisk and manly. A smoky, tarry note that unfolds beneath the classically fresh, citrusy and herbal top notes makes us think of saddle leather. Mixed with a sweet, subtly fruity aroma of cognac spiced with cinnamon and cloves, the leather accord is swoon-worthy in its handsome masculinity. The earthy, animalic base of patchouli and musk is more sensual still. It is no wonder that we cannot get enough of this rough and regal modern classic.
