Dedicated to the legendary traitors we love to hate and hate to love, Eloge du Traitre is Etat Libre d’Orange’s take on classic masculine elegance, with the trademark subversive quirkiness. In a way, creating a new version of a time-honored aromatic fougere might be the most daring feat of all. It pays to risk! In a perfume encyclopedia, under “fougere”, there could be a photo of Eloge du Traitre, because, with its chilly pine, pungent bay leaf, overdose of green and spiky artemisia and earthy patchouli, it is a Perfect Fougere…and yet there is something beautifully odd about this classic number, something we can’t put our finger on…it might be the unexpected feminine delicacy of jasmine amidst the archetypal masculinity of the other notes, or it might be that special sleekly animalic quality that musk notes have in Etat Libre d’Orange scents…whatever it is, it has us addicted.
