Break off a blade of grass and crush a bunch of fresh mint between your palms: this is as naked (“nu”) as green gets, in all its sap-rich, chlorophyll-oozing goodness. Think you might be smelling a little alcohol in there? That’s the off-beat, crystal-clear boozy fumes of ambrette, aka botanical musk, with its musky (naturally), pear-like facets, which Olivia Giacobetti added to round out and soften the intense greenness of the top notes. The aromatic, aniseed tarragon intensifies the cooling effect of the mint; cedar lends a dry, pencil-shavings grounding to the volatile vegetal oils. As refreshing as a cool swim in an Alpine pool of rock water.
