You never know what Jeremy Scott, the roguish bad boy of fashion, is going to send down the runway: one-legged pants, dresses embellished with dollar signs, models that look like they just crawled up from the subway. Theatrical, outrageous and sexy – that’s our boy! And here is what he has to say about the inspiration for his new scent: “Men’s gym locker rooms and Vaseline mixed with sweat, all whipped up with a warm towel – it may sound like a gay romance novel, but these were the indications I chose when creating my signature smell.” So – does it smell like that? To be honest, we don’t get a lot of sweat here, but we do get a whiff of Ben-gay, clean towels that have been tumbled dry until they crackle, some deeply attractive musk, a clean trance-inducing incense and an insinuating hint of dark rose. And it is, indeed, sexy. Sexy in a very interesting way.
“Men's gym locker rooms and Vaseline mixed with sweat, all whipped up with a warm cotton towel, may sound more like an excerpt from a gay romance novel but these were the indicatioins I chose for creating my own signature smell. For me a fragrance has always had the condition of sex. Maybe this comes back to when I was 14 and I had all the Obsession ads plastered on my locker door. I loved them all. Male torsos lying on geometric cubes - the TV ad would drive me insane! It was like church, I would pray to see one and then be as quiet as a mouse to absorb every moment. 'Between love and madness lies Obsession..' Ahh, the smell of it! Naturally this became the first fragrance I wore and worshipped as well. I would not go to school without it and always made sure to get free touch ups of it when I was cruising the mall after school. Those were the days... ” - Jeremy Scott
