This one is a bit of a mystery to us – complicated and unusual and inspired by the artichoke (which is a unique inspiration, to say the least.) We are assuming – but we can’t be sure – that the inspiration is the artichoke in bloom, majestic and primordial. This is green and vegetal and herbaceous, with a trace of citrus and more than a hint of earth. There is definitely the smell of a freshly tilled garden and wood and moss and there is also something sweet, which we can’t quite identify, although it has sniffing our wrist obsessively. We think it may be the artemisia – which is wormwood, of absinthe fame, and while this does not smell like an absinthe scent, it does share that haunting and elusive bittersweet quality. We also get a whiff of something like tobacco in this enigmatic mix. To be honest, this doesn’t smell like any other scent we carry – or that we’ve smelled anywhere else. And yet it doesn’t smell weird, or like a concept that should have been left on paper. It’s nice. So nice that it makes us wonder why there aren’t lots of artichoke-inspired scents. But there aren’t – there’s only this one. One of a kind. |
