Aurora
Eau de Toilette
by Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561

The Scoop
A flurry of spice in a dry desert wind – bold ginger, sweet cinnamon, hot pepper, nutty coriander and brisk nutmeg. The most striking aspect of this scent is what isn’t here: vanilla or anything like it. We are accustomed to these spices appearing in gourmand scents of the holiday baking variety, and while we still like those, it’s a revelation to experience them on their own. Exposed, they seem surprisingly exotic and beautifully vivid. Aurora has a startling, invigorating energy that seems like it could actually send off a spark. Stunning.
Aurora Notes

I hate to give bad reviews, principally because my tastes do NO run mainstream. What most folks like, I don't. So, there's your disclaimer. This is some bad stuff. It smells like one of those cheap things you get at Wal-Mart that commercial locatioins hand on the side of the toilet to do "something but I don't know what." I guess disinfect the area with a better smell? I never got it because they smelled horrible to me. That's what this smells like to me, as well. I'm sure I'm missing something.

This one is quite a delight. The opening is sharp, harsh ginger - the ginger of Jamaican Ginger Beer - the one that bites back when you take a sip of it. There's cedar as well, and the tiniest hint of sugar, which is not in the least bit girly or cheap. It's that wood note that anchors things, gives mature unisex appeal, and keeps Aurora from being totally gourmand. The cinnamon comes out in the finish, and it's understated, rugged and most definitely NOT cassia. Nutmeg? Corriander? Patchouli? maybe - if so, they are quite quite low key. The whole thing is genderless, grown-up, and original. However, in the end, all spice scents must compare to my beloved (and much more affordable!) Oriental Lumpur - and while quite quite nice, Aurora comes up just a bit short in the complexity dept. as compared to O.L. Still, a great scent, and I think the best of this entire line.

this one definitely didn't work for me. for some reason, all i smelled was pine trees, like a glorified christmas smell. everyone else seemed to love it though. i guess it just wouldn't work with my skin

Ginger and pepper!!! Mmm, now cinnamon, not the dry bark cinnamon spice, but the biting oil of cinnamon. Ahh, there is the patchouli and nutmeg. The top notes are spice cabinet; the dry down is mildly incense like but not heady. Brilliant, hot! Then ...invitingly warm, pale sweetness. All Spice and no oriental!

I agree with a previous poster about an almost spearmint note to this... actually it reminded me of a guy I used to love to kiss, he always wore something spice and chewed spearmint gum. Yummm. This is very different, but nice.

This is so nice a first-it is very dry and spicy, but there is a touch of something almost spearmint that gives it this great depth. I know that sounds weird but it is quite good-Luckyscent is correct when they say it feels like it could spark. I thought I had to have it but it just didn'tlike too long. All of theses scents semm kind of light but some stayed forever. Not this one.

It smells very strongly of hippy-shop incense to me. The pepper up and left about 5 minutes after I put it on and the patchouli trampled everything else.

I agree that it could be unisex, usually not my fave, but this one is very refreshing and invigorating.

I like it! It's slightly masculine, but in the best way possible. It's lovely and spicy and it reminds me a bit of Ormonde Woman (in its earthy notes and spiciness - they're not identical by any means). Lasting power is not too great on me.
