Iris is a celebration of one of Spring's most delicate blooms and a tribute to the flower which was the symbol of Florentine Republic in the Middle Ages. It takes over a thousand days of drying to extract the essence from its bulbs and it can take on several different forms in perfumery, most notably the powdery sweet aspect you think of when you smell a violet fragrance to the metallic and green nature of an iris fragrance in full bloom. Odori's Iris opens with a powdery green feel and quickly ushers in a dash of sweet with heliotrope. Soon enough, the powdery aspect is downplayed as the iris blooms and blends beautifully with ylang ylang and star anise. Even though we tend to think of iris as more of a reserved, aloof floral, this version is positively bursting with sunny springtime memories and happiness. |
