Rose de Siwa
Eau de Parfum
by Parfums MDCI

The Scoop
Rose de Siwa is a woody-floral scent for “moments doux” (soft moments). Named after the flowers of the Siwa Oasis in Egypt, the perfume is delicate and fresh, truly an exhausted traveler’s dream of a paradise in the midst of a hot desert…with beautiful fountains, and luxurious trees and roses fresh with the morning dew. The scent is a charming, playful rhapsody in pink, a joyful, flirty, truly feminine composition that features pink peonies, pink roses, and pink fruits, with violets adding a darker depth to the blend. It winks, it smiles, it twirls in its gauzy, pink dress…what a little charmer!

Madonna Mia! Verament e troppo costoso questo. Non dev'essere un"americano per sapere che i ladri sono stati en qualque paese!! ( MOther of mine--this is way too expensive. You do not have to be an American to know that theives exsist in any country!!) I take high offensive to the broad from England and her fragrant mouth! It is a good scent that is way out of line--Art or not!!

Another beautiful rose by the incredibly talented Francis Kurkdjian. I highly recommend sampling htis just for it's uniqueness. For me personally I like a more full bodied rose, but I do appreciate this composition.

When I first put it on, I was actually repelled by Rose de Siwa. It was so overpoweringly rose-y that my first thought was "potpourri." But as it warmed to my skin and the intensity of the roses softened, I fell in love with its seductive sweetness. It's the kind of subtly sexy fragrance that leaves delicate vapor trails wherever you walk... people have been literally following me with noses rapturously upturned. Rose de Siwa smells delicious, flirty, and expensive: I'm saving for a full bottle to wear as a new signature fragrance.

Yes, reviewer from London, 100 pounds (or US$235) is a lot of money for some people. You might have the disposable income to pay for Rose de Siwa in good conscience (and perhaps you have some nice original artwork on your walls as well?), but I'm guessing the average American has enough trouble trying to make ends meet without spending $235 on one bottle of perfume. Obviously there is a market for perfumes such as this one, and if you have that kind of money, good for you. But not everyone can afford this type of 'art'. For those of us who can't, there's always the local gallery or museum.

I put this fragrance on and poof! It was gone. Very disappointing - YSL Paris Printemps smells very similar and lasts all day. Rose de Siwa was just a powdery memory.

I can never tell from day to day how I am going to feel about this fragrance. It smells exactly like the color -- pale petal pink. Not "powdery," exactly, and not "cloying," exactly -- just pink in the nicest way pink has ever been presented (but still ... it's pink).

Very elegant, complex fragrance, really reminds me of Isabey Gardenia!! I would never purchase the stature version of this, though.

This is a really, really lovely fragrance. Long lasting, so romantic, and well-blended. I would wear it when I wanted to feel ladylike and cherished. I do love the scent, but I already have so many rose perfumes that I would not wear it often enough to do it justice. If I do purchase Rose de Siwa in the future, I will just buy the refill bottle. The perfume is worth the $200+ in my opinion (not much more expensive than the price of POTL, after all). To me personally, the bottle a perfume is presented in is incidental to the scent itself, and I would not pay that much for an elaborate decoration to pretty up the package. But if another woman loves this fragrance in the $600 porcelain bust bottle, I don't think it would be a waste of money for her to treat herself to it. Life is short. If something brings you happiness and you can afford it, enjoy.

Very nice fragrance but definitely not worth the money.....?ART? per last reviewer, to each their own. Parfum is empty, empty bottle goes in trash. No art left, not even the sculpted bust....sorry, still nice parfum but not for the price. :)

Being responsible with money is a noble thing---simply because one has access to much of it, doesn't mean it should be wasted. That said, buyers should look at this line as investing in art, considering value above even the glass packaging and sculpted busts that contain the fragrances. Fragrance is art. Art has value that's measured by the emotion and thought it provokes--rarely in terms of practicality. Some people can afford to pay for it without concern for price, others might have to re-evaluate luxury spending and tailor it to items that inspire the most joy/satisfaction for their money. Either way, it can't be denied that "Rose de Siwa" is a lovely fragrance full of high quality ingredients, presented in a quality art piece. However, a $600.00 price tag IS steep, when you compare it to other available fragrances...but it's up to potential buyers to decide if the fragrance is worth it. If someone has a strong philisophocal or creative connection to fragrance and something in "Rose de Siwa" prompts a lost dream/memory or inspires new ones, than this happens to be a "Holy Grail" scent to them and it's worth it. Spending within your means is not about spending $600.00 on a fragrance, it's about taking priorities into consideration when spending. Spending $1.00 more than you can afford to spend on a luxury item, is spending too much.

I'm sorry I'm getting shocked reading this. Are people in the U.S so poor as to afford some 100 pounds for a I SAY IT: niche(for a start), unique, absolutely gorgeous perfume? I mean Less is More. What is the point in having 50 cheap perfumes 10 pounds each? Sorry guys I don't get it. Where is the appreciation of les beaux-arts, personal taste, individuality ? I won't talk about the little statues here since it's a fragrance review but to moan about price !!! This is a MASTERPIECE for god's sake

This is a truly extraordinary perfume that somehow manages to capture all my favorite scents. The peony, Moroccan rose, and violet fragrances sparkle and seduce when combined with the lightest of cedars. It is fabulous! Amazing. I put it on and my spirits soar. Even my husband was taken back with a smile by this one. On a more somber note, I must say that I am puzzled by the snide and chastising tone of the reviewers below. Sad, but true, one all too often gets what one pays for and this is especially the case with fragrances. It is not easy to gather and combine some of these fragile ingredients. Pick up a sample and judge the value yourself. Please, here of all places, let's refrain from judging one another for spending on indulgences.

If you have the sort of disposable income that would justify paying this kind of money for a fragrance, I sincerely hope that you are a true philanthropist with the rest of it!

Very pretty. Light, soft. Not all that interesting. No way worth the price! I much prefer the Rosine line.
