The scent paradox, Josef Stakus combines shadow and light, tradition and modernity, comforting simplicity and intricate details, forcefulness and softness. As soon as we smelled his Eau de Parfum, we knew that we found our new favorite incense fragrance; however, we feel that it would be unfair to call this sophisticated blend simply an incense scent. Jasmine, patchouli and coriander add layers and facets to the composition, preventing the incense from becoming too dark and brooding. Cashmere wood enhances the opulent quality of Juozas, giving it the intensity and the lasting power. Amber and vanilla make the perfume wonderfully soft, turning its base notes into an enveloping comfort fragrance. A modern classic, Josef Statkus is complex and exceptionally harmonious. It is sophisticated enough to satisfy the most jaded and picky perfume connoisseur and a lover of incense fragrances. Those only starting their discovery of incense perfumes, however, will find the softness of Josef infinitely approachable.

This is one of the sexiest, most alluring perfumes I have ever had the pleasure of smelling. I bought it for my sister...it smells gorgeous when sprayed right after a bath/shower. Perfection in a bottle!!!!!

Oh, pure perfection. If you like dark, a bit cold, but challenging to perfection. And if you have a lot of confidence. This is not a perfume for kai-girls, nor for the good housewives. This is kind of.. a good girl, and a housewife and mother, and women who make a living, and a saint, but a wild lover. Multi person in one. Incense is a gentle, serene and peaceful, while others note shows that under that mask is a hundred persons. The challenge? Definitely!

This is lovely, but definitely reminiscent of other perfumes. This smells as if someone sprayed on Dune by Christian Dior, and then dabbed some patchouli oil over it. Which isn't to say I didn't like it--Dune was one of my favorites for a while-- just that it's been done. I was disappointed, the reviews were so good. I expected something totally new.

This is pure amber on me. I kept waiting for the incense or woods but all I got was amber.I'm not much on pure amber scents so I won't have to shell out the big bucks for this one.Pretty long lasting too!

Smoky incense woods add mystery but the heart of this fragrance is the warm vanilla drydown that goes on forever. Very wonderful.

This reminded me of a cross between Avignon and Messe de Minuit. It has a little bit of the moldy book thing going on like Messe de Minuit does, but it is considerably sweetened and softened by the amber.

I'm myself Lithuanian girl, now living in US. The first time I tried Josef Statkus' eu de parfume, I was still living in Lithuania. Right away I was impressed by the mystical yet elegant scent. It seemed different and worth showing it to the world. I am glad that so many of you enjoy the parfume as much as I do, even though the price here is a little bit too high. I understand that this parfume is hard to get in the US, probably that's the reason, but in Lithuania you can get a bottle for half that price. However, it's very nice that finally is selling this wonderful scent in the U.S.!!!

Maybe I got a wrong sample, but somoeone posted a similarity with POTL, so I might be commenting on the right scent. I grew up drafting and this one smells just like a pink eraser. I licked them to get ink off mylar so I developed a rapport with their smell. Statskus' is dead on, miss it since all we do now is computer work. The price is too steep when you can get those erasers for under a dollar.

OMG!!!!This is so beautiful. It is soft and spicy at the same time. It has the gorgeous incense and spice, but then dries down to soft, but sexy floral/amber. I'm in love in a way that hasn't happened in a long time. Going to have to work overtime to afford it, though.

A soft, gentle, spicy, woody ambery scent that may be soft but is not weak. Go easy on the application! The drydown is 90% of this personality and it's all about amber - but a very muted masterfully tuned amber by the addition of soft woods, vanilla and musk. What a well balanced blend! The opening is coriander spice lifted by jasmine, patchouli + incense that folds into nice soft wood notes. Just when you think "this is an incense fragrance" . . . the amber starts to shine through and continues for a long warm but quiet as a wisper finish. One of the finer compositions I have sampled. Not at all like CdG Avignon - but it is still wonderful.

I have found my holy grail. Its effect is quite amusing, such as when two coworkers (one male, one female) walked into the office from the kitchenette where I'd been making tea, asking "Who is wearing that delicious perfume." My hubby constantly nuzzles my neck, telling me how much he loves the scent.

I agree in regard to the CdG Avignon suggestions, and am about to make another one--Frapin 1270. Smells quite like Frapin 1270, without so much booze. Nice, but not worth the insane price. Would be good for fall, though.

If you love CDG Avignon (Incense series) you will adore this fragrance, as it's similar with a hint of smoke, incense and bite, but this fragrance is prettier than Avignon - softened with a light-handed and sweet patchouli. Very sensual yet elegant at the same time.

This is a beautiful incense perfume, with soft cinnamon running through the composition, vanilla to smooth things over and the softest woods to keep things elegant. I'm sooo happy someone in the US finally has it! This is a definite must if you love incense or if you wish that POTL was less play-doughy.
