A La Nuit
Eau de Parfum
by Serge Lutens

The Scoop
If you’ve ever walked down an ordinary street in the dark and unexpectedly encountered the otherworldly scent of night-blooming jasmine, you know how enchanting and disorienting it can be. The shadows seem deeper, the stars seem closer and the air becomes loaded with possibilities. It may be difficult to remember why you were walking down this particular street to begin with, but you want to stay there forever. A La Nuit is a ravishing, ruthlessly true jasmine fragrance. It captures the bloom’s dizzying, head-spinning quality of being euphorically light and darkly sensual all at the same time. At first sniff, it feels like the world has been completely overrun by the glowing white flower, but it quickly settles into just the right amount - fresh and lovely and airy. No matter how light and silky it becomes, it never entirely loses its slink and growl, because it’s jasmine, y’all. It’s always sexy. If you hate jasmine, this will not change your mind, but if you are a jasmine lover, this may well turn you into a jasmine addict. Absolutely stunning.

Gorgeous jasmine edged with green notes, silky honey and smooth musk. One of the most gorgeous jasmines out there. Even though many speak of its potency, I find the fragrance to wear beautifully like a second skin, in harmony with my chemistry rather than completely taking over. The green notes add depth, the honey and musk smooth the jasmine out. I love it, I think it's fantastic!

Lovely! floral, the jasmine and greenery are most prominent in a complex yet soft way.

Oh my goodness! Thank you, Serge Lutens, for this divine jasmine fragrance. I'm a sucker for jasmine anyway, but A La Nuit is such a wonderfully sweet, clear-as-a bell jasmine, I'm inclined to believe this the best I've ever smelled. I couldn't get a bottle fast enough. Heavenly!

Very sexy and sophisticated jasmine. Very fine composition that does not reveal Jasmine so obvious. Warm perfumes, close to the skin, smells.. oh. Try it.

heady, sensual jasmine. but not much depth, or interest. was good enough several years ago but now... not so much.

I love this perfume. This is by far the very BEST Jasmine perfume ever made. This is a close second to Bruno Acampora's Jasmin. Which is bewitching.

Oops, I meant to give this 4 stars, not 5.

A warm, yet green jasmine with that "clear" note somewhere in the middle, then something I can't quite put my finger on, is it the green shoots? Hints of honey & benzoin come through, then it settles into a floral prettiness, perhaps a little too pretty... It's nice, but although all the reviews I've read remark upon the longevity of the Lutens scents, I find they barely last much more than an hour on me, so I have to pass on this one & stick with the Montale.

This is a fire bomb of jasmine, completely feminine and classic. The jasmine is strong, but not sharp and it softens into a smooth, velveteen dry down with good staying power. As an hour goes by, it may remind you of a flower wilting with some scent still left, but not as strong as when it was in full bloom. The musk and clove soften the high note floral aspect and somehow, it doesn't transform into something unfamiliar from when you first applied it. I love this! It reminds me of why I fell in love with fragrance to begin with.

This is one of my fave Jasmin fragrances. Starts out a little strong but within a half hour it is just PERFECT. Feminine, sultry and beautiful.

A La Nuit starts out with the cloudless sky, a bright, clear jasmine. As it dries down, the other notes come forward, and the jasmine starts to burn off. Jasmine hardly ever lasts on my skin, so I'm not surprised. What's left is a vague sweetness, reminds me of tuberose and vanilla. Pleasant but not stunning like the opening notes.

The jasmine opening was WAY too overpowering/cloying. It was sickening. If you can last until the dry-down, the scent does get better, but it takes a while.

Absolutely exquisite! A mood elevator straight to the top. This is a shining jasmine experience, pure and elegant.

I understand that the drydown and even the middle stages of this fragrance are interesting and worthwhile, but for me the opening is the most breathtaking, addictive thing I've ever smelled. I comprehend, in theory, the idea that to have that opening linger for a million hours would probably kill everyone around me, but I can't help resenting the middle and drydown stages anyway, just because they can't equal the crashing chords of the opening blast.

This is truly one of the best jasmine scents Ive ever owned. Opens up powerfully and settles down to a gorgeous soft almost powdery Jasmine scent. staying power is excellent as are all the serge lutens fragrances I own. A must for any jasmine lover

The A La Nuit write is brilliant...cudos to the writer! This *is* a true jasmine scent. Initially, it is heavy as if you're in a jasmine fog but it lifts quickly and you're left with an aura of jasmine beauty. I do not find this scent indolic in the least like I do other jasmines. As with other Lutens...the staying power is remarkable. Enjoy :o)
