Jardin de Kerylos
Eau de Parfum
by Parfumerie Generale

The Scoop
Every self-respecting perfume line has to have a fig scent. Only few have been able to create a fig fragrance as sophisticated and as delightful as Parfumerie Generale’s. Jardin Kerylos was inspired by the gardens of Villa Grecque Kerylos on Cote d’Azur, the lavish villa meant to resemble an authentic residence from ancient Greece. True to its inspiration, Jardin de Kerylos has an uncluttered, minimalist feel and elegant, harmonious proportions of a classic creation. What we especially adore about this scent, is that it is evocative of all possible aspects of a fig, from the bark of the tree, to the leaves, to the sensual flesh of the fruits themselves, to the endless blue expanse of the see and the sky. With its greenness masterfully accentuated by the note of sycamore, Jardin de Kerylos is a fresh, dry, superbly summery fig fragrance that should delight lovers of fig scents and those who are looking for a perfume that would carry them away, into the refined, Mediterranean paradise.

I guess I like my figs sweet - this is far too bitter for me. The dryness of it just makes it smell "off" on my skin. Sounded great from the description, but just not appealing in the least.

Ooh. Fig. This is a really wonderful mostly-wet fig. Has very green, wet opening notes that dry up a bit. I found a slightly resiny note. It is not quite as wet and creamy as Phyloskyos, but is quite like it intially. I has much better longevity than Phlyoskyos. It really challenges it for my first choice of figs. If I could only have one? Hmm. difficult choice. I might chose JdK. I'd rather have about a gallon of each to play with all summer long.

great green fig, if you can forget about Ichnusa which is twice the price, but I can't. Ichnusa, why are you so expensive?

I have given away every expensive fragrance I've purchased in the past 2 years. I really can't stand perfume unless it's clean and uncomplicated and this sample I purchased is going to be a purchase as soon as i finish this post. I love love love this. Staying power is not that great but who cares. Just buy it. It's beautiful.

OMG...I'm amazed there aren't more comments about this. This is just amazing - THE best fig fragrance in my opinion, and my absolute holy grail summer scent, love at first sniff. It's so incredibly beautiful - soft, refined, smooth and sophisticated. It's very refreshing and has a cooling effect in the summer heat, literally like being in the shade of fig trees. It's so well-blended that I have trouble picking out the separate notes, but to me this is luscious, juicy figs, surrounded by fresh greenery and summer air. It's extremely well-rounded - not too green like L'Artisan's Premier Figue, not too coconuty (Philosykos), not too woody (Satellite's A la Figue), just fresh and fruity and perfect. It's the scent of vacation, transporting you to the Mediterranean coast, it makes me feel like I'm at a villa resort somewhere on Cote D'Azur, lounging under some fig trees. Simply gorgeous. The only downside - not much staying power, but the beauty of the scent makes up for it.

This is one of the nicest fig scents out there, in my opinion. It is not too sweet (I find L'artisan and Dyptique to be pretty cloying), yet it is not as dry as Heeley (which I find powdery and somewhat sterile after just a few moments of application). My main complaint about this is the staying power, which is weak, especially in comparison to my Holy Grail of fig perfumes: Il Profumum's Ichnusa.

I really liked this fig scent - better than Philosykos. It's less coconuty and a little sweeter/prettier. A little more floral version of fig. Staying power is not the best.
