Dulcis in Fundo
Eau de Parfum
by Profumum

The Scoop
This opens with a very fresh, very sweet orange, like a clementine being peeled, complete with the tangy sharpness of citrus oil on your fingers. Then the sweetness intensifies and becomes richer, as if drizzled with Grand Marnier, and a billowy dollop of luscious, creamy, unadulterated vanilla tops it all off. Warm and brazenly sweet, this ambrosial blend is for the woman who wants to smell delicious. This is dessert at its irresistible best: whipped cream being licked off fingers, fits of giggles fueled by liqueur, suggestive whispers over shared spoonfuls. We suspect that more is going on here than citrus and vanilla (some say a saucy little apricot was involved) but perhaps it is just a citrus and a vanilla that get along exceedingly well. Delectable.

Sweet citrus, then vanilla vanilla vanilla. It means, in Italian, "the sweetness at the bottom." Interpret that how you like!

Do you know those large white Madonna lillies, the ones you put in a vase and make the whole room smell with their sweet nectar? Dulcis is much like that. It's a really strong perfume - one drop lasted all day on me. But I was almost embarrassed to smell like this, it's quite unidimensional and marshmallowy sweet (the citrus escaped me alltogether)

As delectible as perfectly described by Luckyscent and previous reviews; but save your money and just by Vanille Abricot by Comptoir Sud Pacifique

How I wish the creamy, sweet and bright orange top notes would stick around. This would be HG material if they did, but it dries down into a boring old vanilla with a bit of spice. The initial application deserves another mention though it's divine.

Another profumum i really wanted to like but just couldnt. There is a strong bubble gum note on my skin with creamsicle undertones, but mostly bubblegum. Probably chemistry :( I bet this would be great on the right person.

Forgot to add that this gorgeous stuff is tenacious, second day you can still detect it and the sillage is super. After applying this morning DH who was in another level of the house leaned over railing and asked, mmm what smells so good?

Gorgeous scent! Perfect for cold weather and cozy fires. It is NOT creamsicle to me, it is rich as butter frosting but not at all cloyingly sweet. One of my major comfort scents. Definitely fbw!

Smells really nice from the sample vial, but on my skin the citrus disappears extremely quickly, leaving me with just vanilla, which is a bit too sweet for my taste.

Orange smell is more intense to me rather than the vanilla, not impressive to me...

mmm delectable! Very deep vanilla with a whiff of sweet citrus. Italian for "the sweetness in the end", or, slang: "the ladyparts".

This is a gorgeous, well done fragrance. It *does* smell like a Creamsicle, at least initially, but it dries down to something opulent, rich and delicious - not a creamsicle but an expensive dessert from a Michelin starred resto. This isn't for those who don't like gourmands, or richness, but for those who do it's wonderful.

Yummy, but I wish the initial orange blast would stay longer. If it did, it would be definately FBW.

This is simply delicious!!! I can not stop smelling my wrists! It's not too strong, I just get whiffs every now and then, but when I put my wrist to my nose, it is divine. It reminds me of the orange cream soda by Henry Weinhards, but much more fresh. It's like peeling an orange while eating freshly churned french vanilla ice cream. The really gourmet, fluffy ice cream that melts the second it touches your tongue. It morphs into a much creamier vanilla, very much like vanilla buttercream frosting. The kind you can't eat too much of, though it is quite yummy. It's really not that sweet, but the smell of the frosting isn't that sweet either. It dries down to a nice soothing vanilla, more like a vanilla extract than a vanilla room freshener or cupcakes. It really doesn't have much to it, which is nice, but it doesn't last horribly long. With the price being that steep, I think this will just have to be a sample I truly enjoy! Of course, this may last longer in the summer as winter tends to deprive scents of their true value.

I adore this! It is such a warm and comforting scent and I'm continually drawn to it. I haven't quite determined if I'm happy with the staying power. I often hear people refer to this as a terribly expensive fragrance line, however 100ml bottles are pretty large. It comes out to less than $60/ounce and I can think of a few fragrance lines that sell for that in the local mall. I do wish they had smaller bottles available.

This is weird... I usually have a very strong love/hate reaction to fragrance, but this one I truly can't decide about. Luckyscent was spot on with the review - lots of orange in the initial application, more cream/vanilla in the drydown. I get a mental picture of ultra-premium vanilla ice cream - the kind with the specks - but melted in a saucepan and heated. Nice, but... what I can't decide is if I really want to smell like that. Hmmm...

delicious, delicious! the bestest, yummiest, creamsicle ever! yes- a GOURMET creamsicle, that costs three times as much as a 'regular' one, and you need to stand in line to buy it. and it is totally worth it. the citrus is complex- like a gelato, crisp and deep. and the vanilla holds you in a warm, soft, furry paw. I only wish it would wear longer on me... try a sample. it'll brighten your day.

This was dreadful on my skin. No orange at all. A heavy, almost rotten vanilla, musty, musky. Hideous. Instant headache. Yuck. A pity, as it obviously is delicious on others.

I liked this, and so did my husband. Most fragrances I ask him to smell, he just replies "they all smell the same to me"...but this one he said "mmm...nice!" The orange in it reminds me a lot of the yummy orange top note in Serendipitous. It is a wonderful creamsicle scent, but drier/less sweet, than the dessert. Very high class creamsicle. It is more powdery, sorta like the smell of those orange baby aspirin. Weird I'd want to smell like that, but we both REALLY like it. Like luckyscent said "when you want to smell delicious". Men LOVE delicious. This is a gourmet gourmand fragrance. If you insist on strictly wearing sophisticated or "clean" scents, this is not for you. Those are great for wearing at work & around other women, but if you want to attract a man, this will certainly get you noticed! It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Those silly inexpensive JS orangesicle body sprays are sticky on your skin, and sickly sweet. This is a high class, high quality, grown up orange/vanilla fragrance. The drydown mellows to more vanilla, and less orange, but it is scrumptious no matter what stage of drydown. At least try a sample!

It does remind me strongly of an old DSH limited edition called Creamsicle, a similar sweet and powdery orange scent. I think Creamsicle was more creamy though. Dulcis in Fundo is like an orange dessert or orange candy with loads of vanilla sugar and powdered sugar on it. I never feel like sending out this kind of girly signals with a perfume, but if you do, it's quite irresisitble. There might be very similar alternatives out there for a tenth of the price though.

Very sweet scent. If you like foody dessert perfumes this is for you. Not complex but most men would appreciate a woman that smelled like candy

An orange creamsicle fragrance, but bears little resemblance to the commercial dessert-on-a-stick. This is handmade orange granita and vanilla gelato as created by a tiny, old world Italian pasticceria. There is a touch of the tart bitterness of citrus pith, almost blood orange dark, and the animalic richness of raw dairy cream. I almost detect a touch of cocoa bean in the drydown - a customary accent to fruit and cream in Italian confections. Definitely worth the splurge if you love these notes and appreciate the best of the best!
