Incense Rose
Eau de Parfum
by Tauer Perfumes

The Scoop
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious”, said Einstein. Andy Tauer’s new creation, Incense Rose, brings that feeling of awe and wonder into our lives. Built upon the contrast of fiery frankincense and sweet rose, of masculine and feminine, of night and day, it is a mesmerizing blend, deep and sensual. Citrus notes and a hint of cardamom lend the rose a ripe, spicy quality, whereas orris gives the scent an effervescent, sparkling feel. The woody and balsamic notes of cedar, vetiver, patchouli, myrrh and labdanum are rich and dark. They both deepen and soften the other star note of the composition, the smoldering frankincense. Full of character and darkly seductive, Incense Rose will be irresistible for the lovers of incense genre and fans of sumptuous, resinous blends.
Incense Rose Notes
Clementine, bergamot, castor, Bulgarian rose, orris, Texan cedarwood, incense, labdanum, myrrh, patchouli, ambergris

I don't understand why others do not like this scent! Tauer's Incense Rose is quite the gorgeous fragrance in my opinion! The rose is low keyed and not blasted in your face as in Montale's Black Aoud. It remains on the softer side too. The incense is combined wonderfully, lightly sweetened and doesn't seem to have a bitter edge as some incense fragrances tend to have. The sillage is long lasting, with the sweet incense note remaining. I love this fragrance! It is at the very top of my 'got to have' perfume list. Full bottle worthy indeed!

I wanted to badly for this scent to work out for me, but alas, it smells really strange on my skin. As soon as I put it on, it turns into an oddly sweet baby powder-esque scent.

This is my favorite scent, hands down. It's like wearing rose champagne, it fizzes around you. i wish it lasted a bit longer, but I'll take what I can get.

Gorgeous, dark, alluring scent. I can't see a lot of people wearing this one but if it works with your chemistry you'll fall in love.

Thought I would love this based on all the gorgeous notes listed in it's description. However, all I get is an overpowering/angry citrus bullying a dark red rose, followed by a brief introduction of cedar and incense before the whole thing quickly disappears in a flash. After 20 minutes, no one (including myself) can smell it - not on me, my clothing, nothing. Pity, because this is just when it starts to get interesting. I'm an incense lover and a fan of dark, resinous blends but this one sadly disappoints me. On a positive note, the packaging is lovely and my bottle came with a signed note from Mr. Tauer himself. I highly suggest sampling before springing for a full bottle, no matter what your instincts are telling you....

After sniffing a few day's worth of boring samples, this one hit me over the head. At first I didn't even register the Rose - I mean, yes it's rose, but so many other touches: everything from cardamon/spices to clementine gives the rose a VERY dark, sensual feel. This smells like nothing else. Air du desert Marocain is my favorite of Tauer's scents so far, but this one reminds me of it - it makes a statement. His perfumes are strong and last a long time, so you'll want to sample for sure, but this one has so many notes that play together in an intoxicating way that you will not be able to ignore it. Very exotic and is certainly a statement scent.

Purchased 6 samples, did a blind scent test with the 6 samples plus 3 other perfumes I already own. Had my husband rank the 9 scents, smelling coffee beans in between each sample. I did the same. The only thing we agreed about was Tauer Incense Rose - we both placed it at #9 out of 9. We both really like rose scents - but this one turned both of us off. To me it is a strong aldehyde - initially the scent is strong, but after wearing it on a gently warm day - this scent disappeared. I do not recommend this scent.

Rose petals in a book of poetry from a former love; memory and scent intertwine. To paraphrase william Faulkner, the past is never really past. This tugs at the heart...

This one isn't going to be for everyone, but it is going to be for me. It has this funky, weird, but gorgeous quality that works with my skin and nose while being JUST on the verge of being ugly and white. I already know I will love this; the only thing that remains is to see if it becomes a favourite.

I am a perfume ADDICT and this is the first perfume in a long time that I was truly taken aback with. The first whiff is completely unique and quite stunning. I've never smelled anything like it. It goes through a dirty phase (which I dont hate) and the dry down is a wonderful incense that seems like it would be perfect for hot summer days and nights. I love to travel as well and I always bring a particular scent with me so that I always be reminded of that trip. This is coming with me to next time. I will admit that it is VERY strong though-you will only need one spray.

I am always looking for the complex rose scent, and this is one of the best. It is woody and earthy as well as rosy sweet, and it all blends in quite nicely.

For me, Andy Tauer's works are like virtual paintings. You are invovled in the art and it creates a different reaction from everyone. They allow you to see and feel w/your nose~which of course is going to create some strong opinions. And of course, that's what true art does. What Incense Rose allows me to experiance is varied. To my nose she starts off w/a boozy punch. It's the citrus and the rose joining each other coming out of the gate. Very bold.As it settles~it becomes a dance between the incense and the rose. Both remain very individual and circle each other....yet they are very engaged. The incense weaves it's way through her strong petals.....and then~she becomes seduced. She allows herself a slow song and the two become one beautiful, dry, smokey, wet and full accord. Stunning.....not to be worn by the timid. On the other hand.....I don't believe that it's one that they would choose either.

This is not a fragrance that one buys to complete an outfit or as part of a simple grooming routine. This is a fragrance that is more than simply pretty; it is evocative like a memory stored in a bottle. Melencholy, luminous and evocative, Incense Rose is beautiful, moody and changing. The rose is subtle and layered beneath whispy, ashy incense. The fragrance really is like trying to hold on to a beautiful memory; it is soft, subtley changing and part of you. At the end, the wearer is left with a heartbrakingly beautiful ashen rose that melds with the skin. Use a little or this could be overwhelming. Even though rose is an important note, this is entirely a new interpretation. There is nothing 'old lady' about this scent. Still with that said, I cannot imagine this scent on a very young woman. It belongs on someone with enough melencholy, experience and reminiscence in her past to match its sophisticated character. This is beautiful.

This is a mood fragrance. It captures the feeling of being outside on a cold, late autumn day. There's a smoky earthiness about this last rose of the season that you happen across. Alovely surprise before the season gives way to winter.

Having tried and fallen in love with L'Air du Desert Marocain and Lonestar Memories, I expected to at least like this fragrance. Au contraire! It has the smudgy, smeary, almost sticky scent of mildewed fabric and moldy furniture, and I had to perform an exorcism to rid my wrist of the scent.

rose, incense, cedarwood and citrus Starts with a rush of clementine, the rose, incense and wood circle around each other. Its unfolding reminds me slightly of Tauer's experimental frag, Eau d'Epices, which I was lucky enough to try. If you're looking for a pure rose or incense frag, you won't find it here. I suppose I'd call it complex and challenging, and for me it's definitely bottle-worthy. It's true Tauer's frags are strong and long-lasting. Try before you buy ... and regarding the nay-sayers, try Incense yourself before you decide whether it's for you ... but leave your preconceptions about what "incense" and "rose" mean at the door.

This is wonderful, really unique to my experience. I do smell the rose underneath the incense, even though it is very incensey. I generally do not wear rose, but this is a nice interpretation.

I dont get much of the rose note,on this one. Serge Lutens Rose is the one to beat,it is so complex, and deep.Actually this reminds me SOO much of a perfume called tranquille-created by Laurie Erickson-of the Sonoma Scent Studio! it is a lovely, incense perfume!

I like incense style scents, and I most emphatically do not like this. Unpleasantly strong. I put it on an hour ago and I feel like it's totally numbed out my sense of smell. It's off to the shower for me!

I just received a sample of this from Tauer Perfumes; anyone who likes incense is going to be doing backflips over this- a beautiful, amazing perfume, with the rose, incense, cedarwood and citrus raising their heads rom time to time, just to keep things ever-changing, and as about as close to luminous as a perfume can get
