Reverie au jardin
Eau de Parfum
by Tauer Perfumes

The Scoop
Reverie au Jardin, a new fragrance created by the Swiss perfumer, Andy Tauer, is an ode to lavender— but don’t expect a simple, straightforward lavender! This is lavender like you have never encountered it before. Although retaining its herbaceous, spicy, green quality, the note here has incredible warmth, enveloping softness and alluring depth. The scent is like a richly ornamented, dark-green velvet cloak that envelops the wearer in its sensual embrace— like a pitch-black night in a garden of earthy delights, under a sky jeweled with dazzling stars. It would be impossible to describe in detail the numerous stages, the unexpected little nuances, the delightful twists and turns of its composition. When we say that the fragrance starts green and bracing, moves on to acquiring a fantastically rich incense accord, that the deep, spicy, flowery orris adorns the sultry heart of the scent, and that the base notes, with their earthy, sweet blend of vetiver, tonka, oakmoss, vanilla, ambergris and woods are sumptuous and warm…we are just scratching the surface of the scent’s development. Perhaps we did it an injustice by calling Reverie au Jardin a lavender scent, because really it is much more than that…we love how strong the elegant incense note is in the composition, bringing to it a soulful, meditative quality, and vanilla and tonka bean perform magnificently in the blend, softening what could have been too sharp, adding warmth and sweetness and caressing depth. A masterpiece.

The top note and heart are very mild, soft yet clingy. The base/dry-out is where it is at. It is devious and delicious, I really like it on my skin. It has been cold out so it has given me a warm feeling when I wear this scent. The dry-out is delicious, I smell the vetiver, tonka beans, oakmoss, vanilla, ambergris, sandalwood and cedar wood, it makes for a delightful end. I was not sure about this at first but this scent is a winter favorite.

Reverie is an absolute masterpiece---in my highly subjective opinion! : ) It's the perfect balance between traditionally masculine accords (hello lavender and herbs) and a feminine softness that transports me to a more elegant, sophisticated existence. I think of Femme Fatales bringing sensuality to the austere lines of a expertly tailored mens suit. If I were to pick a fragrance for Kate Hepburn, this would be it. For all its beauty and power, I find it sublimely easy to wear---I recommend giving it a test run!

The lavender and sparkly green is fleeting, then this perfume turns into a clash between dark green galbanum/fir and the vanilla/tonka oversweetness. Nothing lavender-y or dreamlike/delicate.

test first! on me the rose really comes out. i get a sweet jammy rose and a little lavender and a dry down of lavender and vanilla. overall, very sweet and frankly a bit cheap smelling on my skin.

I got this sample a while ago. My little cousin, Casey, and I love it! I am getting her into the perfume world and this is a good one to ease her in. Very smooth, herbacious and yet feminine. Totally love it and can't wait for the warmer weather to let this baby shine! Great lasting power.

I have to change my review on this, from great to OK.It is just SOO sweet,It is very difficult to get past the sweetness,it drowns out the other notes!

I am trying to avoid buying another bottle of perfume, but I am afraid that with this I will soon lose my willpower. It is amazing. Herbal, complicated, changing, cool at first with a warmer dry-down and just plain lovely. Wow! I love this.

I just love this. It is green, but not in that run-of-the-mill "green tea" way. Complex and long-lasting. Even my husband likes it, and he has very little sense of smell! I'll definitely buy a full size of this one.

Swooning in my sample - beautiful refreshing green notes, the lavender, galbaum and incense notes are an inspired combination, perfect for a very warm day. So uplifting and long lasting! FBW

This scent is lovely. I wouldn't call it unisex because it is delicate, although it is very fresh and clean. It is wonderful sleep aromatherapy. It smells like lavender swirling with clean white blossoms and a hint of sweetness. It's almost soapy, but not unpleasantly so. This is one of my favorite Luckyscent finds, and I got a gift card for the holidays, so I'm finally going to buy a full bottle! : -D A beautiful creation.

I don't understand how this perfume could be considered "unisex"? To me it is definitely too sweet/floral. The top notes are a bit weird and synthetic, but it has a really interesting drydown.... just not for me

I love lavender and was really hoping this would be my HG. The fragrance started as a powerful scent of...something gone bad. That eventually died down, but I was left with a bittermetallic scent that had no depth or interest. And, unfortunately, it also lasted a long time! Definitely not for me.

Starts with a sharp lavender/green note. Very quicky goes to a lovely incense. Then it fades to baby powder. Lots of baby powder. I could probably wear it to work, but I love his other fragrances more. This one doesn't do it for me.

I received a sample of this and tried it out. I did not realize it had lavender, I did not get that out of it at all. All I got was a talcum powder smell that was clean, but boring. It wore off very fast, too.

My initial interest in Reverie au Jardin ran along the following lines. “Lavender, fir/pine, frankincense, moss, wood tones... sounds promising.” I hoped that the florals, vanilla and amber would be in the background. Alas, everything I wanted is absent and everything else is too prominent for my taste. Yes, this is sweet and powdery from beginning to end. The green note was far too short. Equally brief was the incense. Powdery florals (especially the orris/iris) kept popping up and gave a note that I find annoying when it is as prominent as it is here. Then tonka/vanilla loomed into view, another irritating scent when it dominates. Wash-off time. In my opinion this is not a unisex scent, it is feminine. It has no appeal for me.

the initial blast is a soapy barbershop on me but in a minute it settles into a soft but resinous lavender vanilla. very relaxing after work and before bed, like warm milk for your nose!

It is such a disappointment! Instead of something extremely rich and multi-faceted I only find a pale-lavender trail slowly turning into chilly, cloying pinky-rose. Perhaps the scent needs someone more hot-blooded to bloom, on me it is powdery and flat. The garden is dead, the dream turned out to be a soap-opera.

This one is sheer heaven on me! It’s described as a deep green scent, but to me it feels like a very dark red soft floral,. Not fresh as in sharp or citrusy, but I did feel as if I were in a freshly blooming garden somewhere in the far East lit only by moonlight. Just soft and dark and velvety and full of mystery.

It is way too lavender smelling for my taste. It is almost medicinal smelling if that makes any sense.

Attention luckyscent! Delete this post and the one three down below! Andy Tauer is one of the best new perfumers and this new scent is probably fantastic! "The hype glorification came from his friends - there are many facets that go into making great perfumes. Natural talent, chemistry knowledge, insight to know what smells great and be able to create that. Didn't like the iris or the moroc samples I tried - I gave up. Think this Andy is a perfumer wannabe which many dream and aspire to. Maybe I am wrong but I am disgusted with these perfumes and the hype. Rating: ***** Anonymous -Too Blunt from Florida"

I dont really like lavendar (this came with the spring pack), but I give it a five because this smelled pretty and comforting. lavendar's not for me, but this is nice.

I love Andy's other perfumes and I deeply respect his work, but I can't find anything to like about this particular scent. I find the vanilla and especially the tonka to be overpowering to the point where all other notes cease to exist shortly after I spray this on. I do believe everyone's entitled to failure, but I still think that Andy has more great ones under his sleeve and I can't wait to smell whatever he comes up with next.

There's something very sweet in the top & mid notes (almost fruit candy like: think LIfeSaver candy), and the lavender seems to be well hidden. Doesn't last very long on me, either, and the sillage is poor. I like lavender, and had high hopes for this one (L'air du Desert... is one of my favorites), but for me it's something of a letdown.

I instantly fell in love with this fragrance. It starts out with a very green hit of galbanum and one type of lavender. Then it keeps evolving, so that eventually one is enveloped in a swirling breeze of frankincense. It is earthy and yet otherworldly. I love it, love it, love it.

I love this scent. It's starts out green and slightly minty, and never stops evolving. I get incense, lavender, spice, musk and vanilla. I love the way the scent changes and weaves in and out. Not at all simple or too sweet on me. It smells fresh and is perfect for spring. I can see how this would work on either men or women. I found myself sniffing my wrist all day.

This is not good at all. It starts out with a good dose of lavendar and in a few minutes sinks into a very blah vanilla. Andy, Andy-what have you done? This is not the unusual brilliance of your last 4 scents. Folks, don't get caught up in the hype. This is bordering on drugstore/department store dreck though it breaks my hear to say so.

not AT ALL profound as the scent lemmings would lead you to believe... so what's the swoon all about?... the long exotic garden walks of which people speak?... just smells like some ol' scented toilet paper to me... it's also extremely berry-like which destroys any sort of depth or mystery it's supposed to emote... sorry andy... this was a big flop-a-roo

This is truly the perfect lavender scent. It encompasses all that is beguiling about REAL lavender, true lavender, lavender that is still growing in the rich earth. It is green and woody and even a little bit musky. I got my sample from Andy directly, but plan on buying my FB here!
