The Scoop
Gardenia Royal is a triumph of the legendary white gardenia and rare essences, a romantic bouquet of sweet florals. Peony, jasmine and tuberose reveal a shamelessly feminine fragrance that is dynamic and elegant, gentle and pure. Gardenia itself, normally a heady and tropical fragrance, is remarkably softened and demure. It ends with a soft dash of sweet musk and a touch of powder.

Always on the search for the perfect gardenia scent, I found this NOT to smell like gardenia and was sour, too "peachy", loud, artificial.

This is a sweet white flower scent. The gardenia is strong and prominent and the beginning, but starts to fade a bit and lets the other notes come through. It is very lovely and great for summer. However, it is a bit too strong and sweet for my tastes, so I wont be getting the full bottle. I need a softer version...

at first sniff, this hits you over the head with gardenia. even though i'm a gardenia lover, i was a little put off by the strong scent. it mellows out, however, to a beautiful rendition of the flower. i do think i smell the tuberose and jasmine, however gardenia takes center stage. il profumo presents another full-bottle-worthy scent. my wallet cries.

Finally, a gorgeous gardenia that doesn't knock you over the head with a tuberose! Since gardenia is my favorite flower I've tried to find anything even close to it in a bottle, only to be disappointed every time.... until my sample of Gardenia Royal arrived! This is definitely full bottle worthy for me!

This is a Madison avenue upscale gardenia - a lady's perfume. It's a bit conservative, southern, more for a woman than a girl. You could wear designer suits with this (pastels, in the spring). I'm not normally partial to straight-up florals, but this is quite nice.

If you've ever smelled Amarige (the original or the 2005 harvest), then you could compare the two fragrances like I'm about to. They are so similar it is uncanny. However, the thing about Amarige is that it has this sour note that develops after about a half hour - and that note is cloying, sickening, and artificial. Ruins Amarige for me, even the harvest edition (which is prettier due to more mimosa), which would otherwise be a dramatic, heady floral. Gardenia Royal, on me, is Amarige without all that nastiness. It is remarkably similar...the only difference is that it is SO PRETTY, and lives up to everything I thought Amarige was going to be when I first smelled the 2005 harvest blend. The only reason that this does not get one more star from me is that I can not detect gardenia at all. Granted, there are all different varieties of this bloom, and my nose simply may not be trained to recognize this. (Think about Tiare gardenia and its lush tropical scent compared to typical gardenia scents...) Simply put: Dramatic floral, pretty as long as you don't take a bath in it, and if you're a fan of Amarige you will flip OUT over this scent!

completely sick. gardina? what? i don't think there is any in this one. doesn't smell like a flower, let alone the one it's supposed to be! smells cheap too. gross. never smelled anything like this and i hope not to again.

a perfection in a bottle! the most wonderful, pretty, Feminine fragrance that I've ever had a chance to smell. Unlike the previous reviewer I don't find it too sweet at all. it's just rerfect.

definately reminiscant of chanel gardenia- more jasmine than true gardenia. very sweet, almost candied at first but it soon settles down. It remains a little too sweet and fruity for my taste but still very feminine and pretty
