Nymphea
by IL PROFUMO

The Scoop
Dreamlike and feminine, Nymphea lays the wearer on a bed of tender water lilies (nymphaeas), symbols of purity and rebirth. Serene and with a beautifully ‘natural’ feel, Nymphea reminds us of bathing in a hidden pool of water, while layers and layers of lilies float on the surface and scent the water, your skin, and the very air with their dainty, delicate aroma. Serene and dreamy.
Nymphea Notes
bamboo, white peach, sweet orange, white water lily, lotus flowers, water jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, white rose, white fig, honey

All I smell is jasmine. To the person that said it has too much tuberose, what you are smelling is the listed note jasmine. Jasmine is an unlisted note in many tuberose scents thus the confusion. Tuberose is very expensive so perfumers add a heavy dose of jasmine to the mix even though they do not list it as a note. Any ways, back to Nymphea: the jasmine overpowers everything else. Sure it is still a light fragrance but it is a light jasmine fragrance. You can't smell much else!

too bright and green, screechingly so. It has that awful shrill note that many modern perfumes seem to have these days

at first it smelt like powdery soap, but after a few hours it settled into a soft and delicate fragrance with hints of lilly and fig. i didnt find the scent to watery or masculine. beautiful, very soft. plus the delivery was so fast ...... fantastic.

I think it smells very masculine. I don't smell any of the flowery dry-down notes that LuckyScent desribes. I'm very disappointed, and will never buy a scent without trying a sample first, ever again.

I don't smell anything marine or water about this. It goes on as a veil of shimmering, slightly sneezy white musk that parts suddenly to reveal a heart of honey and fruit. In the drydown, the musk returns and tends to predominate, and the soapy quality of it reminds me a little of a very upscale bathroom. Aart from that, really lovely, and one that has grown on me. I find myself reaching for it more and more. I do wish it lasted a bit longer, and that the lovely fruity notes projected more.

I tend to like heavier scents (orientals, incense, I also wear men's colognes). This is so different than what I tend to wear and is my new HG femme-y scent. This is from their Osmo line, which are all specifically formulated to change for each wearer according to their own body chemistry (check the Il Profumo's site). When I smell this I feel enveloped by soft, white, heavenly light with white flower petals floating around me. As of right now, I think I've found the scent I will wear on my wedding day. Of course, like any good perfumista, I have a new HG for every category of scent each week!

My nose thinks this is a marine scent, which I hate marine scents! This is why i am giving it 5 starts, because it's one of the prettiest marine scents I have smelled! When I would get wiffs of this while on my walk, it smelled so pretty, just like the description, but when I put my nose to my skin it was really marine-y. That's okay though, becasue most people's noses aren't glued to my skin!

I tried this several times, and each time it smells just like bug spray for the first ten to fifteen minutes. Then that disappears (thank god) and it morphs into a beautiful light floral, not too sweet though you do smell a hint of honey, very fresh. Decent lasting power and it moves through a bouquet of different flowers, each one lovely. Not everyone will get the bug spray part--florals and fruits are iffy with my chemistry. Worth a try, great for warm weather.

I'm waiting for the lily and rose and all the other yummy stuff but so far I'm just feeling kinda, well, under water, and not in a good way.

I think this is what is called a "morpher." It keeps changing. The first time I tried it, it smelled oddly masculine. The second time it was quite feminine and smelled like it had a bit too much tuberose (even though that's not listed as one of the notes). Eventually, the bamboo and honey came out & it became a little spicy, which I like. If you're at all interested in this one, go ahead and get a sample - it's probably different on each person who tries it.

Fans of Claude Monet are undoubtedy familiar with prints from the famous series "Nymphéas". One of the series, painted in 1897, is in the Los Angeles County Museum of art. I love to absorb it for as long as I'm able. Monet wrote, "It took me time to understand my waterlilies... I had planted them for the pleasure of it; I grew them without ever thinking of painting them... A landscape doesn't permeate one's being in one day... " The fragrance of Nymphea developing on your skin will permeate your being as well, if you let it. Spray it on, and view Monet's Nymphéas. Exalt in the sensory intoxication.

Very subtle, discreet, almost unnoticeable. Gives a delicate aura of freshness in the direction of muguet and makes a refreshing change from brands which hit you in the face.

Nymphea sounded so good -- the note list seems ambitious, but overall, I found it disappointing -- it bit too flat, stale, and sweet (like the last drops of port in an empty glass that has been sitting out too long).

One of my favorites out of the many I have sampled. It is very feminine without being overly sweet or floral. I have never smelled anything quite like it. I think it is very pleasant.

It smells very clean without the typical citrus smell most "clean" scents offer. This is the kind of scent you wear in a Zen garden. It is NOT floral. VERY NICE!!

I had such high hopes for this to be a pretty floral, but alas, it was not to be. It starts off perfume, marine. It quickly settles into something else but that something else isn't impressive. I can't quite put my finger on it but it just smells kind of sweet with a weird, marine note underneath. Myabe it is the fig/lily of the valley combo that is throwing me off. It isn't horrible or anything but nothing like the watery "dreamlike and feminine" scent Luckyscent described. If you wanted the elusive feminine yet marine, give this a go but if you are looking for floral, the royal gardenia is rather pretty.
