Aoud Gourmet
Eau de Parfum
by M. Micallef

The Scoop
Aoud can be tricky. Its assertive scent can overpower some fragrances. Gourmet scents can be tricky, too. It isn’t easy to create a gourmet fragrance that stirs desire but not blatant hunger. Micallef triumphs over both challenges by marrying the thick, almost ocean-like scent of aoud with the lusciously appetizing fragrance of honey, spices, and marzipan. Aoud Gourmet opens with a silky breath of sugar complemented by cedar and a pinch of cardamom. Counterbalancing this mouthwatering potion is a foundation of exotic aoud. Just a drop on the skin feels dangerously decadent, but Aoud Gourmet is a guilty pleasure we’ll come back for again and again.
Aoud Gourmet Notes
Sugar, marzipan, honey, spice, patchouli, cedar, cypriol, amber, sandalwood, cashmeran, musks

It's shocking that oud is not listed as a note- it is so strong and obvious in the opening it almost burnt the lining of my nose! Slowly over time the honey and sugary notes come out, and they are really lovely. The oud is still there though. I'm not a fan of oud at all really, especially as a dominant note but I bought this sample simply because I love gourmands. I have found Micallef scents to be of high quality and expertly blended which is also the case here, even though I wish this scent had no oud note,in which case I'd buy it immediately.

I adore this distinctive and unusual fragrance, although it's beauty had to grow on me. The first time I tried it, it reminded me of a kitchen full of samosas(which I love!) It was one of those perfumes that I just couldn't stop sniffing, although I found it strange. Now when I apply it, I get a lot more oud, and some samosas in the background. I don't get any sweetness whatsoever. I love this fragrance and I can't stop smelling it. I'm not sure I'd buy a whole bottle though. I can't exactly say it is super-wearable, but it is a whole lot of fun.

well... this is delish! It's very almondy and oud-y... and yummy. sweet sweet sweet. Only problem... it lasts for 10 minutes until it turns into something other ... don't know what exactly, but it's not delish! anymore. And certainly not worth this kind of money... sad, I really was hoping for something nice. Too watery.

Most wonderful. Heavenly stuff. Marzipan, cypriol, cashmere . . . foody, woodsy, incense-y . . . I'm not really sure what aoud smells like; perhaps it would be too, too much if it weren't tamed by the other ingredients in this splendid brew. The combination is perfect. Lifted higher with each sniff of my wrist!

I recently purchased a dozen samples from Lucky Scent, and this was by far my favorite. It's rich, warm, and comforting, while feeling just a little bit sexy and indulgent. My husband adores it. "You don't have anything that smells like that!" was one of his first comments. It's a really gorgeous scent, spicy enough to be interesting but girly too. I just love it.

I rather like this one. The first note is strong and then the lingering base note lasts and lasts. It is a bit sweet in one regard and then fools you with spice. It is at best a scent invoked from the time of Murder on the Orient Express. It is a very good scent.
