Ginger Ciao Perfume Oil
by YOSH

The Scoop
Who is Ginger Ciao? Vivacious woman about town? Daring international spy? Charming seductress of rock stars and heads of state? Whoever she is, if she smells like this, she can get whatever she wants. Deep, sexy, to-die-for black coconut is the star of this fragrance, adeptly blended with lush night queen, tiger lily, neroli and a splash of ginger and basil. Named for the heroine of a novella to be published posthumously, we suspect that Ginger is Yosh’s own somewhat risque alter ego – but for now it remains a delicious mystery. An ideal scent for a walk on the wild side.

I read every comment here to see if anyone else had the same impression I did ... nope, just me. Big sigh. On me, this turns into curry. Curry with coconut. Curry with chutney. Curry with peanuts. Curry, curry, and more curry. The strange thing is, I'm beginning to LIKE smelling like a curry house. Just not enough to buy a bottle of curry scent. As strange as this YOSH scent is on me, YOSH Stargazer and Omniscent are wonderfully, beautifully, deliciously compatible with my chemistry.

Foody, with it's basil and ginger. Melts into a lovely spiced floral.

not pleasant to apply, strong and rancid. Too much coconut, too sun tan lotion smelling, but it's got this sickening undertone...pickles? It gives me a headache!

At first I thought I might like this but it became overpowering and had an underlying smell of dill pickles......

I was excited by the captivating name despite the rancid reviews. I am a loyal fan of Kai and Monyette Paris during the spring and summer months and was in need of a new fall winery scent. At first the heady coconut enveloped me and made me smile. As the day wore on I realized this scent was much more suitable for a sexy night out. That night I applied a tad more and ran out the door. Within an hour all I could smell was pickle juice. A handsome guy spent the night in engaging conversation and I noticed that he was standing noticeably close. All I could focus on was the perfume. It should be called Pickle Ciao. maybe it was the amount I applied but it made me too self conscious. I really want to fall in love with this one...I will try a few more times (mood and time of day in mind) but I'm leaning towards a no thanks. Too bad I'm a sucker for packaging and names...that's what sold me. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I agree with the last comment...the top note is revolting. Gave it some time and it blossomed beautifully!

Despise the top note (it's like some kind of evil bergamot)thankfully within 5-10 minutes, it becomes a gorgeous coconutty floral. Clean at the same time, doesn't become sun tan lotion and doesn't have the heavy tobacco smell of Onyx. I love it once it dries down. May get a bottle of this -- if I can tolerate the first few minutes.

On my skin, this perfume is exotic yet it also brings flashes of childhood. It is a baby blue lament.

This was one of the scents in the pack of scents I bought (all Yosh). This and the Stargazer were my favorites. Both smelled devasdatingly divine and lasted really well...just a touch lasts all day. This one I found to be a bit more complex and spicy, but couldn't decide which I liked better. For the length of time they stay on, worth the money actually.

this on me starts off like old stinky perfume with some moldy ginger thrown in but after 2 minutes becomes coconutty and really sweet pretty cloying prefer onyx to this would not spend the amount it costs isnt that good!

Wow. Beachy and dark, suntan lotion and white flowers. I usually wear Kai, and this is just the switch when I am feeling a bit naughty.

I so wanted to love this. When I first applied it, it was great. One hour later, it smells like rancid suntan lotion. I'm going to try to scrub it off. Trompeur, on the other hand, has been divine.

I adore this...this was my first Yosh scent. It's the most unusual fragrance I own - no one can place it, which I love. People just ask me what I'm wearing over and over again. It isn't linear...it's complex...it morphs. It blends with the scent of you and becomes essence of you....pure heaven.

Wonderful and unusual scent, but every time I've tried it, it's completely disappeared after an hour or so! I've never had this happen before. No matter how much I love it (and I do) I refuse to buy a bottle as it just doesn't last on me.

I first found this wardrobe in a little shop here in Alexandria-- and I was drawn to this particular scent rather unexpectedly. I generally gravitate to light florals and grassy green scents. But something about the coconut and ginger in this one..., well, it's about the sexiest scent I've ever found. If only I'd known all along that I could pull off something that wasn't just "pretty" but is as luscious and corporeal as this one! Really, it's just gorgeous.

This scent is reminiscent of my Gothic years. It does dry down nicely and is very complex. Not for the faint at heart.

I'm getting a bit obsessed with this fragrance. I ordered it as a sample based on the customer responses. Husband loves it, even the kids that usually hate everything like it. Sort of exotic without being too intimidating. Here goes another hundred bucks....i've got to stop surfing Luckyscent.

You really should wait 2/3 hrs for the effects to sttart taking place. in the beginning it smells like an evening perfume, but after 2/3 hrs it starts to enhance your own natural body smell.

Bought a load of samples and at the first try, I put this at the bottom of the pile. Even after the second try it didn't convince me. But the third, I got past the initial smell of hair grease, and dried down to a feminine, mature, self confident woman of a smell and lasted all day. ( The longer it lasts the sweeter and more refined it smells). This has now gone right to the top of my list. I love it so much I am even thinking of blowing the $130... will sample Sage Onyx you guys talk about, first

i thought this was okay at first. on second wearing, i realized it smells a lot like the ananya body shop perfume oil. which kind of put me off because it reminds me of junior high. i'll pass.

When I first tried this I thought it was nice and complex but a bit overpowering. The next time I tried it I used a very light touch and what a difference. It developed so beautifully that now I must have this. I don't get that strong note when I apply it lightly and all the other notes come through into a beautiful mellow drydown. I simply love this now.

This fragrance is so fabulous. The scent lasts and does not fade away. I love, love, love Ginger Ciao. Hopefully, one day, we will be able to purchase it in talc and/or body powder. Smelling good and love it.

I received my sample a few days ago. The fragrance is fabulous and I can't stop smelling my wrist. This will certainly be on my order list. I love, love, love Ginger Cioa and the scent lasts all day on me. Maybe one day it will also come in a body powder, talc and perfume oil.

Yosh, I hope you read this. You're a fabulous woman and I hope you keep making perfume like this for a long, long time! What a stunner! Your success is well-deserved and I'm so glad to see a woman do so well in this still-male-dominated field.

This fragrance was like a time warp back to when I was a teenager and was captivated by an exotic "hippie" shop called Ming Quogs, which had incense, and kama sutra products, like feather dusters and honey powder, and thousands of pierced hoop earrings in all different sizes, and fabulous embroidered rayon clothes. What a fabulous experience to be transported back with just one whiff.

Ginger is awesome, with a beautiful drydown, but at $130 I'll try cheaper alternatives (Sage's Onyx does well). 5 stars for the scent, 1 for the price.

The fragrance started off very strong, and all I could smell initially was the coconut. However, the drydown revealed some of the other notes on my skin (tiger lily and rose especially) which smelled really great. This is my favorite from the basic line--I only wish the initial fruity burst wasn't so strong and didn't last so very long

Luckyscent was nice enough to include a sample of this with my order. Wow! At first this comes off as a mighty floral. I couldn't detect the black coconut and ginger notes at all... Ciao surrounds you with bouquets of white flowers overlaid on a bed of delicious spice. Complex and stunning. If you can afford it, go for it.

Sorry to disagree but I thought this scent was awful. It gave me a headache and one of my co-workers commented that it smelled like bug spray. And I'm sorry to say he was right. The price was outrageous and if I could return it I certainly would.

Rich, sweet, lush, indolent. When I wear this its like having an invisible barrier up betw/ myself and all the deadlines I have to meet. Sets me down at night on a beach in Tahiti w/ tropical flowers in the air, coconut and a touch of spice. Sexy. Very. Not for the blushing innocent bride contingent.

Just tried my sample of this and oh my, I think I have found my new fragrance obsession! On me this is a deep, dark floral with a hint of spice. It's kind of like a bad girl version of Monyette Paris. Extremely sexy!
