Eau de Toilette

The Scoop
This exotic, spicy elixir is the least sweet of this collection. A classic oriental fragrance that weaves rich, subtle vanilla together with lush florals, warm and resinous oppoponax and bold patchouli. Striking and sophisticated.

Ahh...a patch I can live with and enjoy. Clean patch can become so grating (to me anyway), but this combination holds the yummy vanilla forward and the patch obediently in its place. FBW.

Very pretty scent - sort of reminds me of Angel, but much much MUCH more subtle. Also doesn't have the chocolate sandalwood notes that I get in Angel. I'll use the sample I bought but won't order a full bottle: doesn't last very long and a bit more perfumy than I would like.

The bottles from sephora have and an exp date for sept 08. Read your bottles and if you go to the the La Maison de la Vanille website you will notice that they have new bottles. That is probably why Sephora had the mark down. To play it safe I would ask any etailer if you will be receiving the new bottle. Who wants a nearly exp fragrance anyway? I am a fan of all their fragrances Tahiti is my favorite and if I had to do without one it would be Antilles. If anyone knows if there has been a reformulation, please let us know.

Wow. To think that I got this for $5 at Sephora. No, really. I haven't opened it yet. It still has the cellophane wrapper around it. I also got another one of this line, but I forget the name. I got it free as I work at S.

Angel has been my signature scent for years, and I must say that only the top notes in Vanille Givree des Antilles smell like Angel. Indeed, it smells almost identical right out of the bottle, but the dry-down is much softer and sweeter-the patchouli is barely discernable. I cannot give this scent five stars because it just does not last on me-it's more like a body splash. This scent is available at Sephora for $20 if you love it and like me need to reapply it throughout the day. Angel lovers will find that this scent adds extra sweetness when worn with Angel, and I think it is also a great option for those who think Angel is too heavy for summer wear.

Love this. Period. I love foody scents but don't love some of the ones that make you feel like a cupcake. This is perfect. Just enough vanilla to still want to eat it- but it almost becomes your natural scent. It just dries so nicely and doesn't come across as foody. I have the lotion but might need to get the EDT too!

was a little leary about the patchouli at first, but the vanilla rounds it out nicely. it lends an "earthiness" without smelling dirty or hippy-ish. definitely not foody, you won't smell like ice cream wearing this....it's a keeper

What a great combo! I feel warm and wonderful when I wear this. My boyfriend came over and tested a few samples with me and before I could tell him it was my fav he went berzirk. I had to try this after reading the comment below. I too wear Lolita Lempicka and am looking for something for an every once in a while change. I love love love this scent!

I just got back from Sephora where I was on my way to buy Coco Mademoiselle. Because I had some time, I actually stopped to smell a few bottles along the way, and this was one of them. My signature scent is Lolita Lempicka and I occasionally wear Angel, so this smell - for this price - seemed like a God-send. I forgot about the Coco Mmslle and bought this instead. I've only had it on for an hour, but I can't stop smelling my wrists... it's delicious! It is similar to Lolita and Angel, but it should be great day perfume because on me the vanilla is the most prevalant of the scents, then the patchouli. In summation, I smell yummy and I love it.

This is one one my new favorite perfumes . . . and though I have not sampled them all, my favorite so far out of the La Maison de Vanille line. The critics are right that it is not a pure vanilla. It is darker, but still very sweet and subtle. I think it will make the perfect fall perfume . . . it reminds of drying leaves, bonfires. A little spicy but pleasently so . . . lacking the pepper of muskier orientals which can sometimes be overbearing and far too masculine. It evolves nicely over time as well, a very complex perfume.

An Ode to La Maison and Luckyscent: This was it. The first fragrance that led me down the most delightfully scented primrose path to niche parfums. Thanks to Luckyscent's accurate description and the comments section, I found one of my first loves. This is the scent I want to drench myself with in the autumn/winter months. Sexy-Comfort, all the way. It may not be a "true vanilla", but for many it is fabulous. And so affordable! I think Vanille Sauvage de Madasgacar (also an incredible scent) is actually the least sweet in the line; Vanille Givree des Anitlles is the sexy-woodsy-oriental one ;) Worth a try!

I agree with some of the others-my least fave of all the Maison line. If you're looking for a true vanilla smell, this is not it. Has undetones that smell a bit strong and definitely overpowers any vanilla included in this scent. Not a straight-up, clean vanilla. Doesn't have that clean, sweet, light scent that I look for in Vanilla's.

What is it about this incredible fragrance?! I am drawn to this fragrance, I want this fragrance on me or near me at all times! Foody, exotic, comforting. At little bit of spice; immediate attraction!

This is THE best out of the entire line.Ladies-it IS different, more like a subtle version of YSL'S Opium pour homme(which, incidentally,is my hubby's only scent.) A seductive,smoky,incense-laden oriental-vanilla for a night out-or a night in!

Oh, I did not like the Antilles. This smelled very perfume-y on me, and the predominant smell was a sick, salty floral. Of course, I am not a tuberose fan, so maybe that's why I didn't care for this one. I much prefer the Mexique, the Tahiiti, or any of the Comptoir vanillas.

I love this! This smells nothing like Angel....which I have and adore....This frangrance is more subtle with a honey smell at the end...at least it smells that way on me....can't wait to order the full size!

I love the Tonka Bean that reminded me of a soft musk which brought out a sweet smell at the end.

I think this was compared to Angel when many first tried it because there weren't a lot of other fragrances to compare it to. Now there are a million different vanillas, and if you're a vanilla lover, like me, regardless of similarity, you want to try them all! I do see some things in common with Antilles and Angel, but Angel does not smell good on me and Antilles smells great on me. Love for this fragrance inspired me to try other scents with patchouli and I've come to realize I wear certain patchoulis really really well. Antilles is a keeper in my fragrance wardrobe.

I'm not a huge fan of vanilla, but this changed my mind. It is a dark, sexy vanilla that is neither too sweet nor too musky. Vanilla for grown ups. I will be buying the full size!

I don't know about the Angel comparison. I gagged at the tester of Angel in Macy's. This is strong at first but mellows into something soft and sexy. Rich, exotic, soothing and elegant.

A sweeter version of Angel, without its bite. Very beautiful patchouli-vanilla blend that is a bit spicy and sophisticated enough for an evening out. the lasting power isn't great, but at $32 per 100ml I can't complain too much, right? One of my very faves from the line, which I adore (and I usually hate vanilla fragrances!)

I know several posters compared this to Angel, but to me it smells very similiar to Chance by Chanel. Vanilla lovers won't like this one, but if you love oriental fragrances, this one is perfect. Long lasting and feminine.

I got a sample pack of all the La Maison de la Vanille perfumes, and I was surprised to see how so few people loved it. I think it got the worst reviews of the bunch and it turned out being the one I prefer most. I love vanilla, but some of the others gave me a headache. This is just beautiful smelling. I'll definitely buy a full bottle.

I hadn't even read the reviews, and the first thing I thought when I tried this was Angel. A very subtle Angell. And I happen to like patchouli (and before people blanch in horror, I mean patchouli counteracted with something sweet, I can't take dirty hippy patchouli anymore than the next person), so I think I'd prefer Angel to this, though Angel does a weird cotton candy thing this doesn't do. I don't know, I've gotten progressively sick of Angel, so this isn't something I'd remotely want to wear. I have a feeling if I'd never smelled Angel before, however, I might really like this. Oh well. At any rate, it isn't the most unique thing on the market, and it certainly didn't knock my socks off. But if you like Angel, this is a better (and cheaper) alternative in my opinion.

I do love Angel, but I wouldn't compare these two. If you like Ebba's "Miss Natasha", try this. Its a heavier, deeper fragrance. Not the innocent fluffy marshmallow vanilla. Vanilla all grown up. Try it if you are curious about the vanilla craze - but don't usually get into sweet/foody scents.

This would make a great unisex fragrance! Its spiciness goes well with male chemistries, I think. It smelled great on my husband, but I like it as well. The oppoponax makes it very different from other vanillas, and yet the whole composition is light and dries down to a lovely sweet vanilla. Sophisticated yet very wearable.

This is a really great fragrance. It reminds me of Angel but it is softer and the dry down leaves a really great vanilla scent. I really enjoy this one.

This is a very wearable vanilla scent. Not too sweet. A bit complex. It's taken the place of Angel for me, and that's saying a lot. The patchouli is mild in comparison to Angel. The rose gives it a sophisticated edge. It's heaven.

Not at all what I expected! I'm used to foody vanillas and this is something else entirely- very mysterious and complex.I thought it was too much at first, but I found myself sniffing my wrist over and over. It's definitely unusual!

This reminds me of a less pungent version of "Angel." It's not as sweet or overpowering. Just a nice vanilla/rose. Really nice...
