Nuit de Tubereuse
Eau de Parfum
by L’Artisan Parfumeur

The Scoop
Bertrand Duchaufour is on a roll. With Penhaligon’s Amaranthine, he proved that his masterful style could extend to sensual florals. Now, he’s gone and tackled the most unmanageable diva of the perfumer’s palette, and come up with a totally novel, utterly seductive take on tuberose.

The eagerly expected Nuit de Tubéreuse turns down the classic, creamy-coconutty facets of the flower to focus on its more unusual facets. The top notes draw out the odd, rooty, snapped asparagus stalk aspects of tuberose absolute and set them off with vibrant green cardamom; mango drenched in pink pepper creates an almost incense-like effect – Duchaufour’s signature. The scent goes through a strangely compelling, freshly upturned earth phase before easing into a suave floral heart, where the tuberose is bolstered by orange blossom, ylang-ylang and rose, wrapped in the honeyed-tobacco facets of broom on a warm, musky, woody and balsamic base.

If you’re addicted to tuberose, you’ll be riveted by Bertrand Duchaufour’s totally original interpretation. If you’re tuberose-averse, you might very well be converted. And if you’re a man, you may have finally found a version of the note that can be worn unselfconsciously. But women needn’t worry: Nuit de Tubéreuse is still very much a heart-breaker.

It took about a year, but I finally decided I couldn't stand this and gave away the bottle. The drydown gets bigger and sharper, very synthetic, until I can't smell anything else and I have a headache. The opening isn't bad.

I'm not a tuberose fanatic, but my friend is, so when we were in Paris I grabbed a sample of this for her to try, and she's obsessed. And even I have to agree, it's not the cloying tuberose that I've come to know and hate in some of the more popular commercial fragrances. I prefer spicy or green scents, more unisex than feminine, and if I were going to wear a floral, this one would be a real possibility, so I can only assume for someone who enjoys tuberose, this would make a great addition to your collection. That said, it does have some silage... so advise to exercise caution in offices and close quarters!

I bought this un-sniffed. It is definitely a complex and multi-faceted perfume. When I wear it, people ask, "what smells like incense?" I agree with all the reviewers below. It is both powdery, slightly musty, mango-y, and floral. It might be perfect for you, but it is too difficult a perfume for me. Sample first.

Heavy, mucky, noisy and conspicuous perfume. I can imagine Sylvia Fine in series The Nanny saying that this is her favorite perfume. With Tuberose by Keiko Mecheri. Disgusting.

I used to wear Fracas and this is really not like that at all. If I really concentrate, i can pick up on that common tuberose note, but, really, this is a sexier, richer, softer rendition of tuberose. I particularly appreciate its inter-season-ality. It's not so heavy as to be cumbersome in the heat, but it's spicy enough to seem cozy in the winter months.

Smelled like cheap candy on me. After the dry down, I asked BF for his opinion. He said I smelled old.

Wow! What an amazing scent! Received this as a sample. For some reason, this scent is a little reminiscent of - Parfum D'Empire's: Eau De Gloire. There's that spicy-pleasant mentholated scent. Still debating whether to order this.

I had to have a bottle the minute I smelled this wonderfull fragrances. And I am not just saying this because I adore almost every fragrance in the L'Artisan line. This is not your usual take on Tubereuse. IUt's very original and has lots of character and in no way at all does it smell cheap. It's a very sophisticated scent.

Disgusting! It's sticky and smells cheap.

Wow, this is THE fragrance! Adorable. Spicy tuberose, but yet not that spicy, and not that tuberose. It's definitely not a Fracas's tuberose, if somebody is searching for that kind of fragrance.

This perfume is the shizz. I wasn't sure about this one when I first tried it. Actually, I hated it. But every now and then a perfume just needs to "relax" in the bottle before it goes well onto my skin, so a couple months later I gave my sample another taste and holy cow: in the past few hours I've gone from, 'hey this isn't so bad after all' to 'this is full bottle worthy'. Totally reminds me of naughty times outdoors, rooty, dirty, fevered moments of little to no self-control. The exhibitionist in me demands I buy this, immediately. Will do.

This is a really intriguing scent. It's not what I think of when I think "tuberose," but that's OK! It's quite original, really. the tuberose mixes nicely with the dryer woods, and gives the tuberose (which i generally associate with big white florals or tropical floral scents) a new aspect. not sure I need a whole bottle, but i'm glad I got a sample to appreciate the creativity here.

I LOVE this...perfect for any time of year. A very beautiful, alluring scent...I can easily detect the cardamom, clove, orange blossom and tuberose...so very lovely. Glad I ordered the large bottle!!

Not exactly my taste. It was too overwhelmingly floral and somewhat powdery for me.

This is so incredibly awesome, it made my eyes roll back in my head. It is a lush, earthy floral that smells like sex in a bottle. I have already placed my order and can't wait to receive it!
