Premier Figuier
Eau de Toilette
by L’Artisan Parfumeur

The Scoop
Why Premier? Because it is the very first perfume based on the fig theme! Green like its sweet-smelling leaves, milky like the sap of the tree, fruity like the soft flesh of the fig; woody like its branches and trunk…It is unique as it conjures up an image of the entire tree. Glossy green leaves and succulent ripe figs meld together in this innovative, award-winning scent. Milky, warm and earthy, this is one of the best fig fragrances around. It captures the essence of the entire fig tree, with lasting green and woody notes anchoring the mouth-watering sweetness of the fruit itself. Unusual and memorable.

Holy jesus! I just received a sample of this (that I ordered because Christina Hendricks mentioned it and I super want to know what she smells like) and its a really beautiful perfume. I'm usually turned off by green scents, but this one has a lovely milkiness that takes the edge off of the grassy scent. It dries a bit powdery on me and I sort of like that. My husband said it smelled like clean babies.

ok when this sent opens up it is divine. I mean milky, coconutty but not overly sweet due to the fresh fig. It's very nice indeed. It lasts a long time to, at least 5-6 hours. The only problem for me is that the drydown is rather gross compared to the beautiful top and mid notes. I wish it would not change and transform into something kind of masculine and blah. It could have been a new addition to the holy grail perfume list of mine. I wanted so bad to like this, and I do, a lot, just not when that fresh coconut and milk and fig blend go away.

Opens with an overpowering blast of fig leaf. That dissipates quickly and the coconut takes center stage. Coconut is not my favourite but here it is tempered very nicely by the other notes. The almond I could not detect at all, but a friend said she could smell the almond on me. weird, right? beautiful fragrance if you like coconut. if you're searching for an excellent fig this might not be your one.

I really, really, wanted to love this one. Honest to God, I did. I got the sexy, clean sweetness from it... but bit by bit it turned soapy both on myself and on the b/f. Rats.

The first time I wore this scent, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. The next day, I didn't wear it, and found I missed it, and when I did the laundry I enjoyed smelling it on my old clothes. So I wore it again and I really like it. Whether or not I like this better than Dyptique's Philosykos remains to be seen. I think Philosykos has better staying power, but I like how this one smells one me. It lasts longer on me than many other scents, but the drydown smell is similar to a skin scent like you would find in, say, a dry violet note, but milkier and a little sweeter.

Started out o.k., but like a previous poster, turned soapy on me as well. Too bad. Overall I think my favorite fig scent so far is Heeley's. Still trying them though! ;)

smells like nothing but old dirty lamp shade. good thing is it doesn't last long...

I wish I could figure out which note turns soapy on me, but this smells for all the world like detergent. My chemistry is wonky with fruits and flowers (although some work just fine). I was looking for something green but less crisp than my beloved Aroma M O-Cha, but this isn't it.

I really wanted to like this...I really tried but it wasn't to be. Smells exactly like the place I take my dog to get groomed. For a fig scent you just can't beat A La Figue by Satellite. Way better...

Anonymous from Cleveland: there is no vanilla in this fragrance. I doubt you'd be able to tell "real" from "fake", in any case. Please take some time to delelop your nose, before publically bashing top-quality products. This fragrance is among the best balanced in it's class I've tried in a long time -- simply delightful!

I LOVE fig scents but this is a horrid little number. Dries down into a cheap, fake vanilla. The best part is when it disappears after 10 minutes.

Okay, I have to post an update to my previous review. In an effort to give this one a second chance, I wore it once more to work. I was surprised when a cute guy friend/lunch buddy declared that he absolutely loved it. I had not been fond of it. I started to wear it and I have to admit that it grew on me. It is now one of my favorites. In summary, I'll just say that the fragrance definitely grows on you.

Out of the vial and first on the wrist this was amazing. The sharp green fig contrasted so nicely with the creamy coconut and sandalwood (couldn't detect the almond much but that was okay) But after about 12 minutes the notes blended together and it smelled like the stuff in the aerosol can my preteen sister used to get at the drugstore in 1988. In other words, cheap and stinky.

This one is very odd. At first, it is just awful. It smells like a ton of fresh cut grass and pollen. The only thing it reminded me of initially is that I need a refill on my Allegra D. However, if you're patient, it does dry down to a tolerable green, figy fragrance. And, just when I thought I was getting used to it, it was gone. You should sample this one before buying it. I was not thrilled. There are others that are much better.

Weirdness. In the sample vial, this stuff was absolutely glorious. My husband recently purchased this for me , and all I can smell is really, really green plant-like figs (maybe). Stale-ish. Oily. The sandalwood, coconut and almond are not present. So bizarre. I'm wondering if I got the "lemon" in the bunch, but the whole Primier Figuier Discovery Set (candle, body wash, body creme) all smell this way :( WHAT could have happened?? from 5 stars to 2 (sorry!)

OMG! This is amazing! Fresh with just enough sweetness. Cannot stop smelling my wrist! I could bathe in a big tub of this stuff! I'm going to buy a bottle right now! I think this is a great year round, everyday scent.

Now THIS! omigod, absolutely gorgeous! Edible! I smell whiffs and wafts of this during the day long after I've applied it, and it is pure sensory heaven!! Figs, Coconut! Almonds! Sandalwood! So good! Must. Have. More. (drools)

I am a HAPPY girl! I usually enjoy fig scents, but unlike Jo Malone's Wild Fig & Cassis (which is very nice indeed), this one is sweeter and creamier and less "woodsy". I like the fresh, earthy, yet more feminine quality here. I spritz in the morning and can still smell a softer drydown throughtout the day, so for a L'Artisan, this one has decent staying power. I am VERY pleased I ordered this winner...

Green, earthy, figgy, and sweet. This is a wonderful summer fragrance that makes me sniff myself all day. It's great for day or night. I love its uniqueness and its ability to raise my spirits.

I sort of knew all along that I'm not a fig person, and now I know for sure. There's nothing wrong with the scent, it's just not for me. I found it overpowering at first, but the dry down was a lot nicer and easier on the nose.

Lovely, complex and delicious. Starts off fresh & green and dries down to a warm sweet marzipan.

I collect perfumes like I collect lipsticks....wear one for a few days, get tired of it, move on. Not so with this fragrance! I can honestly say this is THE ONE! I have tried for years to find the perfect fig-based perfume and have always been disappointed. Selling my discarded bottles online had become second nature, until I found this scent. Regardless of what other customers have posted, I have found that it DOES last all day on my skin. It smells fresh, rich, and a little sweet, but not at all overwhelming. Bottom line: Compliments regarding fragrance mean everything, and I have received many in the last 2 weeks.

Warm, sweet, fruity dirt, but dirt just the same. i like the Extreme better, there's more coconut. I like the Extreme but not enough to actually invest in a whole bottle. Sample this one -- it's another acquired taste that some can't get enough of.

This has been my signature scent for 7 yrs. Every time i wear it, it attracts a new comment. Reminds me of italy in the late summertime - ripe fig balanced by the wood scent of it's bark - one of my best kept secrets for years - now with gaining popularity, I wish L'Artisan would make another fragrance reminiscent of italian blossoms and fruits.

This is on the extreme version: Yay, an L'artisan that lasts more than a breath! Very nice "clean" yet juicy fig scent and I prefer it to some of the sweeter ones out there. try the extreme if the edt doesn't last.

It is an intoxicating warm and fresh fragrance all that once. I wear it both alone and layered with other scents and it always proves to smell divine. I get the most compliments with this one!

I hate green. I don't care much for fig, either. And Premier Figuier comes along and captures my heart, body and soul. This is one more once in a lifetime beautiful fragrance. I will have this and wear this as long as I am able to obtain it. My husband thinks it smells like heaven on earth, too.

The fig is there but the coconut and maybe the almond make it cloying.

Grassy, green, but not antiseptic. Feminine but not sticky sweet. Coconut? Yeah, but do not worry about any kind of single-note tropical colada nightmare. It just adds a creaminess to keep the green from being too sharp. A hint of woodsiness gives it weight. Very feminine, unlike the Mathias Paris fig which has so much pachouli I felt like an androgynous hippy. All in all, a delightfully wearable and unique daytime scent. Perfect for the springtime!

One of my favorites. The shower gel is as nice as the perfume. I'm big on figs, and this is one of the nicer, warm ones. Not as wet as Cote Bastide. Heavier than Carthusia Io Capri.

LIKE FRESH CUT GRASS!! I LOVE IT! I have searched far and wide for months for a grassy scent until I fortunately found this perfume. It seems that "green/grassy" scents are not well liked by many people so they are hard to come by. This one is the perfect green scent for me. Well balanced... not sharp like a lot of green scents. The fruity fig notes come out more as the fragrance dries down and blends perfectly with the green notes. I felt like I struck gold when I found it, it was exactly what I was looking for and was surprised to find it! I don't think it's sexy, but it is one you wear for yourself.

I love the definit stages this goes through. It is suprisingly green and outdoorsy at first (reminds me of sitting on a bale of hay in our horse barn) and then turns into a rich lovely scent finally finishing off with a long lasting coconut/almond scent that sort of hovers in your aura. I love it and get compliments (you smell wonderful!)

Soft, comforting, sweet, powdery... coconut and sandalwood is how it was on my skin. I thought it would be just for me, but my husband loved it so much he wants to buy me a bottle

Beautiful clean, fresh, soft fragrance. Subtley sweet, gently dry. Hard to pin down, but definitely a favorite. A comforting scent you wear for yourself, rather than for the effect it will have on others.
