The Pink Room’s new perfume, Pour Toi, is a beautiful coquette of a scent, playful, coy and oh so feminine. And how could it be any different, if the fragrance was inspired by the great Colette and her flirtatious heroine, Gigi. Like Gigi, Pour Toi starts gentle and innocent, with the notes that are reminiscent of Colette’s childhood memories of the garden, with the ylang ylang, roses and lily of the valley blooming in the fresh breeze after a rainfall, and of her mother’s baking, of comforting, cozy smells of vanilla and blackcurrant, of zesty lemons and tangy grapefruits. As the scent progresses, the ingénue turns into a vamp, a sophisticated femme fatale. Her impossibly chic presence inhabits the smoky, musky base notes …base notes evocative of a whiff of a very expensive cigarette in a long holder, of a lingering stare, of a sensual smile. The sassy Pour Toi reminds us of a saying by another seductress, Mae West: “When I'm good, I'm very good. But when I'm bad I'm better.” |
