Geisha Green roll-on
perfume oil
by Aroma M

The Scoop
A hypnotic metrosexual apéritif unlike anything in our oeuvre. Its key aroma is absinthe---the tart, licorice-flavored liqueur, which we’ve gently sweetened with black currant, mandarin, and violet, and softened with amber and tonka bean. Famed as an aphrodisiac, absinthe is also a legendary creativity enhancer. Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, and Hemingway all fell under its spell. And as Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge reminds us, indulging in la fée verte (the green fairy), as absinthe was known in Belle Époque Paris, had such a narcotic effect that cocktail time came to be called l'heure verte (the green hour)—a reference to the potion’s dazzling green color.

Only one person mentioned the minty-ness of this, and that's what struck me, too... this smelled on me like a variation on Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca, but dimestore-cheap. Can't explain it, but am really disappointed it didn't work for me... Sorry I can't explain why a very few of us are getting this sense, but you might try a sample first.

Kind of minty fresh. Nice and simple.

Tried this from the sample, and it's not for me. A lovely scent, but too masculine. I am no trained "nose", so I can only report what it smelled like to me--strong, black, powerful tea leaves, mixed with a dark green shrubbery (not juniper exactly, but equally strong: like those hillside landscaping shrubs). A unique take on "green", all the same. Never smelled one like it.

I got Geisha Green as a sample and was astonished when I first tried it on. I now understand the "soapy" description, but it's so much more. It's very happy and warm, with so many rich layers. I will definitely be buying a full-sized bottle of this for summer wear.

I agree with the previous post,It is a very unique aroma, compared to most, not so "green" as expected, very nice! PS--- does NOT smell like Ck-B2 (calvin) as another reviewer stated.

I was surprised by this fragrance, it is nice but unusual. This smells a bit like Sambuca (a liquor made from anise). And a bit like aftershave. I was expecting a licorice scent, but the anise is not sweet enough to compare it to licorice. I liked this but realized that this is not for everyone

This one is nice, but can be unisexed, I believe. It is due to the licorice in it, I think. If you like that in a scent, you will love this. It is similar to La Madisons Regliss, but a bit different, but a close match. It is worth a samples first, not for everyone, but nice.

I am unsure about this one. It smelled like a man's after shave to me. My man liked the way it smelled on me, but I thought it would have smelled better on him.

I would definately say unisex....but not in that neutral way....its feminine and masculine aspects are very distint from each other. Cold and spicy. Clean and dusty. Very unique.

Unisex. A bit syrupy sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. Unusual. I kept catching whiffs of it and enjoying them, to my surprise. I'm undecided about this.

Not my cup of tea. It smells very generic to me which I was stunned as the notes are indeed different. I think it's just my and my funked out chemistry, but definitely not even finishing the sample let alone FB potential. ******sigh******

Thanks for the sample, Luckyscent! This is a lovely fragrance, but I wouldn't call it warm. On me it is cool, exotic, and heady. The absinthe note comes out clear and clean... the violet and amber mellow the harshness of it, but the black currant adds a bracing edge to the scent. It's Baudelaire. It's Toulouse-Lautrec. It's rue Pigalle. I feel edgy and bohemian wearing it.

It is a cross between heavy licorice and soap. It does remind me a bit of CK One but with a twist.

This is difficult to describe, but it's kind of warm and soapy. I didn't love it when I first tried it because it has almost a masculine scent, but every single time I put it on I get a new compliment - go figure. It is very long lasting like all the Aroma M scents and very unique. If I had to describe it with one word it would be clean.

This smells like CK Be. Way overated for a pretty standard smelling perfume.

Yummy. I love this perfume, and I am extremely hard to please. Kind of Licorice with lime and powder. It sounds strange, but it smells like heaven.

Really really like this one. Smells like Lolita Lempika for men, but more feminine. Great.

Delightfully different, in the way that Ebba's Miss Marisa is different from any other scent out there. The licorice aroma of the absinthe blooms into a fresh violet, then mellows into amber and tonka bean. This is what La Maison's Regliss wanted to be but isn't. And the deal closer is that my husband loved it on me as well.

Nice licorice scent.

4.5 stars. A tart, licorice-laced scent that's deeper than most of the other Aroma M scents. It's very fresh, with a hint of violet and tonka bean that makes is more interesting than most of the absinthe-based fragrances out there (except for Serge Lutens' Douce Amere). A great choice for those who love daring/unusual scents.
