The Scoop
Don’t be fooled by the name. Calypso’s vanilla is not a sweet, moist cookie of a scent (just thought we should let you know). It’s a burst of equal parts vanilla, bergamot (think: orange, grapefruit and lemon) and orange blossoms. A scrummy concoction of all the things we love best, all wrapped up in background of white musk. Vanille is a sophisticated creamy, musky floral/vanilla with remarkable lasting power…we could smell its warm musky vanilla traces many hours after first applying. Dreamy, creamy, rich and fabulous!

Very light, fresh, not foody vanilla. Lovelly scent for spring but no lasting power.

It was too floral and a bit too sharp for me. The vanilla was really nice however just was overpowered by the floral on me. Maybe I will revisit it on a warmer day. It did have amazing staying power on me but that seems to be the case with all the ones I don't fall in love with and the ones I love don't stay long enough!

This starts over with a nice airy bitter neroli note and then morphs in a nice dulce de leche vanilla note, nice but not what I was looking for.

YUMMYYYY! I adore this perfume, delivering everything described and i smelled all the notes in such a harmonic and warm way. I think this is excellent for warm, non-fruity vaniila lovers...

I so wanted this to be a 5-star fragrance, as I adore Christianne Celle's Mimosa, but I find it to be just "okay". I would have liked more vanilla and less of the other notes, as well as more staying power. I am glad, though, that you sent a sample with my order and that I got to try it first before buying the larger bottle.

I think this smells very pretty. On my skin, it smells just like Keiko Mecheri's Mihime, except less purple? (to me, purple smells like lavendar baby shampoo!) I don't smell much vanilla, but it's a very feminine smell. I wouldnt buy it because I like Midnight Orchid better for a vanilla floral, but it's nice!

This is a boring vanilla scent. That was the my initial impression after application, but wow, was I ever wrong! The initial sniff is blah, but after about an hour, it morphed into just THE most gorgeous vanilla scent I've ever tried. So light, clean, non-foody vanilla on me. I keep catching slight whiffs of it and I love it. Definitely smells like an expensive vanilla scent and I like that it's not gourmand at all. My only qualm? Waiting for the initial drydown to get the gorgeous fragrance of this Vanille.

Even though I don't like this on myself, I admire it. It's a very, very dry vanilla with a sharp woodsy undertone. Great lasting power, too. Fans of non-sweet, dry vanillas should not miss trying this one.

wasn't sure if I like this at first or not....so the bottle sat on my dresser for a couple of months, nearly forgotten. I wore it the other day....the dry down is fantastic! If you can wait thru the initial "burst" it's a keeper. Nice and warm....and the staying power is pretty good, too.

Yuck! I did not like this at all. It lasted all day and gave me a massive head ache. I usually love vanilla scents, but this just smelled odd. Also, I couldn't detect the "fig" smell at all. Gave it to my sister who seems to like it though.

This is my favorite so far of all the vanillas on this site - and believe me, I've tried almost all of them - I just wish it lasted longer than 1/2 hour. That's whats holding me back from purchasing a bottle. Otherwise, it's perfect.

I wish I had read the notes a little more carefully. Unlike most white musks, this one did not give me an instant headache, but it still turned this pretty scent nasty on my skin.

Excellent offering from Calypso. Very unique vanilla scent...subtle, warm, sultry and fresh all at the same time...I absolutely love this fragrance including it's staying power. Generous bottle size, great value, a real winner!

This is the best Vanilla I have smelled thus far. I really like vanillas but I don't go for sweet or foody, A subtle, sexy vanilla is what I've been looking for and this is absolutely it. It's creamy without being salty or stale, it's very balanced and not overpowering. I feel good in this one.

This is a unique, citrusy-floral vanilla with a terrific, sensual white musk base. It's truly unique and not exactly a gourmand scent, but a must-try for vanilla lovers and haters alike. I was taken aback at how much I liked this. I might have to get a bottle of this soon.

This is a very expensive-smelling vanilla. IMHO most vanillas smell like cupcakes or like they came from the dimestore, but this made me think of a pricey hotel room in Europe. It doesn't smell citrusy either, it's just good.
