Every once in a while a fragrance crosses our path that stands above the rest. Frangipane, from The Garden Party-- the makers of cult favorite The Party in Manhattan-- is such a fragrance. Frangipane harkens back to a time before today's crazy bustle of traffic and cell phones. It calls up a lazy summer afternoon in a garden redolent of hothouse flowers, their scent mixing with the jasmine tea and spice cookies set out on a table. It's an afternoon when a woman closes her eyes and breathes in the scented air and talks of Debussy and Italy and E. M. Forster, every sentence charged with subtle passion. It's an afternoon when she rises from her chair, smiles at her companion, and lets her hand trail along his back as she returns to the house for a summer nap.
The Garden Party Frangipane opens with a mouthwatering combination of spice and citrus that quickly gives way to lush jasmine and frangipane. The quality of the all-natural components of the fragrance, including jasmine and osmanthus absolutes, are immediately evident. Oakmoss, tolu balsam, and patchouli give delicate complexity and balance to the composition, taking it from being merely a “pretty” fragrance to one of stunning beauty. Although it is classified as an eau de parfum, Frangipane wears long and deep, like parfum. In short, The Garden Party Frangipane is a modern classic. |
