Lann-Ael
Eau de Toilette
by Lostmarch

The Scoop
Breakfast in fairyland: lighter-than-air buckwheat cakes; bowls of warm, pudding like cereal topped with cream ladled from the top of the milking bucket; sweet apples “borrowed” by the pixies from a nearby orchard. A delectable honeyed fruit opening eases into a soft and mellow vanilla-tinged milkiness that is as comforting as a mother’s embrace. Incredibly cozy and yummy, this will definitely appeal to foodie scent fans, but it also has an airy quality that is unusual for a gourmand fragrance, so it may appeal to those looking for something soft, as well. We are (quite unscientifically) attributing this lightness to some sort of magical spell, remembering the tales of those mortals so enchanted by a meal of faerie treats that they could never bear the taste of mortal food again. A whiff of this, and we can see how that could happen. Lann-ael means “angel heath” in Breton.

This didn't do it for me at all. I bought the sample because it was listed as one of the top picks for gourmand scents but honestly all I smelt was a hay-like note which I did not enjoy. I can kind of understand what one reviewer meant when they said this fragrance smalls like breast milk. It actually kind of does smell just like that, which I don't find nice or sexy one bit. To me, this was a no cause it just wasn't attractive or special enough. I could smell a faint apple smell however and that particular note smelled nice but overall it's blah for me. Btw, I adore Madera by Omnia which lann-Ael is compared to; but in my opinion, they are NOTHING alike.

This is exactly like incence sticks I once had. They came in a chique black and silver box and were called 'super hit'. Cotton candy-like sweet but with great depth. Too heavy for me, though.

A warm, protective, feel-good scent - like that woolly blanket your mother used to tuck you in when you were five. Like grandma's apple pie, served with love. The sweet comfort of hot porridge in the morning. This scent soothes and speaks of safety and love. It's almost an anti-depressant. I was quite surprised by my strong emotional reaction to this scent. I would give it 7 stars if I could :)

I've never smelled any scent like this before. The description is very fitting. While this scent is very warm and comforting. I'm not sure if I want to smell like this. It kind of reminds me of baby cereal. I would love this as a home or linens spray

THIS is heavenly. I love the scent, but it has no staying power on me. :( That's the only thing that's kept me from buying a full bottle. Sigh. I love warm scents like this for winter!

I am not crazy about sweet scents, but this is very warm, love it!

Heaven! I can't stop smelling my wrist where I sprayed. Complete comfort, gorgeous, feminine. A scent you enjoy just for you.

This is scrumptious! I usually avoid anything that smells obviously sweet and gourmand but this? It takes all of that and makes it absolutely wearable. I agree that it's light and airy, not cloying in the least. It's the first of this type of gourmand that has me already planning my next bottle. I just got this one. It transcends season and begs to be matched w/the shower gel and lotion. Lea was too cloying, Chia too heavy, Lann Ael is perfection. I'm thrilled!

This fragrance completely took me by surprise. I am NOT a gourmand fan at all; my preferences are cyphres and fougueres, and I usually prefer masculine scents to feminine ones. All that being said, as soon as I smelled this, I purchased it, without even pausing in the slightest degree. I smelled like a cookie, and I LOVED it! This is a delightful scent and I recommend it to those of us wanting to break out of our self-imposed routine. This may stand alone in my collection of green, grassy, incense, leather scents, but it will occupy a position of pride.

I wanted to really like this and for a moment I do, but I find the fruit notes in this too high pitched in sweetness.

Thin, one-dimensional, and uninteresting. I currently have Lann-Ael and Hermessence Ambre Narguile on for testing, and they are very similar in concept but Lann-Ael pales in comparison.

I am not a perfume aficionado. I cannot describe this eloquently like other posters have. I will say this though; I really, really love this one. The sample is much lighter on my skin than when it is sprayed on. Sometimes the spray can be a little too aggressive smelling for me-- but I feel that way about just about all perfume. After wearing this for a week, all my BBW and similar vanillas smelled cheap or boring. I broke up with them after falling for this sometimes difficult but so delicious fragrance.

This is a nice scent, but I do agree with the "Fruit Loop" comparison...Don't like the apple and the buckwheat is a little too strong. Also it has no staying power...A good, cheap alternative to this is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's "Dana O'Shee...same cream, cereal scent without the sweet cloying fruity smell...and if it's the cream you're after, try DSH Perfumes "Au Lait"...no cereal smell but a right on creamy goodness that's hard to top for this kind of scent. Both are oils, but seem to linger longer. You could actually buy both and still have money left over!

Yum Yum Yum. I could not stop sniffing my arm after spritzing this on. This is the softest, sweetest, warmest, coziest scent that makes you feel like you're being hugged. Definite cereal in the opening, but in a steamy, honeyed, buckwheaty sort of way - I didn't catch Fruit Loops at all. then it takes you to a place where you just have beautifully sweet, warm scented skin. Perfect for cooler weather, though I have a feeling it may turn cloying in the heat. My only complaint is that it kept disappearing. I'm getting some more samples to see if that wasn't a glitch, and if it stays put for a while, it's definitely full bottle worthy.

I love it. Definitely opens with the lighter than air buckwheat pancake note but then melts into a light fruity sweetness and creaminess not heavy in the least, though i know different people's skin chemistry varies so on me it may be light. I have not experienced any heaviness spoken of. I smell the pudding notes as it melts into a fruity lightness like fruity pebbles in fresh cream. It has that fairyland feel to it and reminds me of pink fluffy clouds at sunset that gently dissipate into airy white and gold and blue light just before sunset. Very comforting. What does Heath mean? I get the Angel part

What a disappointment! This really did smell like a bowl of sugary cereal in milk, left out on a counter until it gets soggy. This scent was too thick and cloying for me - I love milky comfort scents but this absolutely did not work. Matin Calin is a good alternative.

I give this 5 stars because it totally matches the description, but but my nose hasnt smelled anything better than Lea St. Barth yet! (in the vanilla comfort scent category)

Lann-Ael smells like my mother's love to me... Heavenly, very soft, creamy sweet, very comforting. The initial blast has an incredible cereal/grain top note and then it quickly melds with the soft cloud of milkish creaminess with a touch of vanilla. Instead of cereal, think of biscuits and sweet cream... or... a bowl of warm oatmeal with sweet vanilla & milk cream stirred in. It is really delightful. Sweet, comforting, and delicious. It just smells like comfort, hugs, kisses and cuddles...

I agree with every positive thing everyone else has said about this. It is the most soothing and comforting scent imaginable. From the notes and the breakfast cereal descriptions, I was a bit skeptical and really surprised at how much I like it. Captain Crunch and Fruit Loops aren't my favorites. However, I read a comparison on a French perfume blog that made more sense to me: the writer said it reminded her of the smell of madeleines.

This is a sweet and yummy and surprisingly wearable gourmande. While I'm not crazy about the apple note, it disappears for me in the dry down and I love what is left.

Love, love, LOOOOOOOOVE this!! My new faaaaaavorite comfort scent! And I'm one picky beeeyatch :) It has a warm creamy vanilla cake, buckwheat, milky warmness that stays very close to the skin. Just plain yummy from start to finish! Not your typical vanilla scent. People keep coming in for extra hug or kiss to get another whiff of me! No sickly sweetness at all! Absolute perfection!!! In fact, I just ordered a full bottle and CAN'T wait to receive it!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this one!

The first whiff reminds me of the scent that comes from the back seat when you take a long-distance car trip with kids. But then it dries down to a scent everyone seems to notice and enjoy. And you smile because you know you are wearing cereal.

Wonderful gourmand scent, bot overly sticky sweet, lovely, stays close to you and is sooooo comforting. Eventhough i prefer wearing this kind of scent in fall and winter, i am definitely wearing this now. Pair it with the lotion its beautiful.

Smells exactly sugary Fruity Pebbles or Froot Loops with milk and Saturday morning cartoons. Comforting in a "I wish I could be seven again" kind of way. Perfect for a day when you just want to stay home with a blankie and watch tv in your pjs.

If you have a thing for comfort, gourmand scents, this is your heaven. This is not a thick overly sweet one, so even if you usually don't like sweet perfumes you may fall for this one. It is really different and so good.
