“I started thinking this might be a surf-king version of Frédéric Malle.” – Luca Turin, 2005
“Shioya shares with the scent-architect Frederic Malle a Woody Allen-ish knack for convincing stars to work for him.” – Chandler Burr, 2006
Art as scent and scent as art…that’s the premise behind S-Perfume. The company had its genesis in 2000, the first all-original perfumery to come out of Brooklyn, New York. Initially, creator Nobi S. used various fragrances to scent his “Olfactory Art,” an visual theme that included scented sculptures. As Nobi’s star grew brighter, so did intense interest in his art of using scents to relay a visual medium. Nobi brought on board perfume maestros like Christophe Laudamiel and Sophia Grojsman, master artists in their own art form, to concoct very special perfumes…one (the original S-Perfume Classic, first called Jet-Scent 1.0) became the only perfume to star as an art piece and be sold as a perfume. Here under one roof and in one place for the first time are the three S-Perfume’s fragrances.
