Rigaud
What is it that makes a RIGAUD candle so special? Well, first of all, to call it a candle is to not do it justice. RIGAUD is a burning fragrance – the oldest in the world. To experience RIGAUD is to experience true luxury. From the moment it is lit, the magic begins as the beautiful fragrance lifts into the air and follows the air currents around the house. The fragrance lingers in the air, even after the flame is snuffed.
All RIGAUD burning fragrances come with their own snuffer. RIGAUD is not to be blown out – only snuffed. When it is burning, the entire surface becomes liquid fragrance oil. This is what creates the wonderful lift into the air. The “lift” is what truly separates Rigaud from all other room scents. The production of RIGAUD is very special and they have long been secretive about their proprietary formula and patented pour. You will note the softness of the consistency and the absence of all air bubbles as the formula meets the glass.
Unique History of Rigaud
The original scent was the green cypress. It was created to be a signature scent of a very fashionable gift shop specialized in country homes on the Rive Driote (rightbank) of Paris in the mid twentieth century. This is the scent that became unforgettable to all who shopped in this boutique. One of these patrons was Diana Vreeland of Vogue Magazine. She absolutely fell in love with the fragrance and brought it back to burn in the Vogue offices in New York during the 1950’s. Notoriety continued when Jacqueline Kennedy discovered the burning fragrance in the office of the French Ambassador in New York and burned it in the White House. It was here that many people of distinction were introduced to this exquisite way to scent their homes. It became well connected to all those “in the know” such as politicians, entertainers, fashion designers, celebrities and high society. |
