Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561 Fragrances
We discovered this line the old fashioned way – by traveling to Italy and combing the shops for treasures. At first it seemed we had simply found one outstanding fragrance – imagine our delight in discovering an entire line of exquisite scents from a brand with such an extraordinary, and virtually unknown, history. Farmacia SS Annunziata is one of Italy’s oldest brands and is believed to have been housed in the monastery of the Benedictine monks of St. Nicholas as early as the start of the fifteenth century.
The documents of this order vanished with the French occupation of Tuscany at the beginning of the 19th century, and the apothecary passed from the monks to various owners until it was acquired the Azzerlini family, who have managed the brand for three generations. The apothecary which was documented in 1561 still exists, with white ceilings and dark wood shelves decorated with apothecary jars from the 1800’s, but production has moved on to more modern techniques. These gorgeous scents were developed with a sense of tradition and an eye to what is fresh in the fragrance world and they are absolutely stunning and full of surprises.
