CB I Hate Perfume Fragrances
You’ve no doubt already smelled some of the amazing work of Christopher Brosius in the many fun, evocative and downright “How’d he make that smell so perfect?” line of Demeter, the fragrance line he founded and later left in 2004 (he created the famous Dirt, Snow and many other best sellers).
Rejuvenated and inspired with the thought of starting another perfumery from the ground up, Christopher dubbed his new company CB I Hate Perfume, explaining that the “Hate” part comes from his opinion that, “Perfume is too often an ethereal corset trapping everyone in the same unnatural shape.” He doesn’t like for everybody to smell like everybody else, and his range of totally unique and hand blended perfumes reflect both fun, individuality and his own scent memories. From the Coppertone and sand beaches of America in the brilliant At the Beach 1966 to the Mediterranean breezes of Mr. Hulot’s Holiday and the sweet leather and parchment feel of In The Library, these long lasting oil and water blends are both complex, fantastic on your skin and just plain fascinating. The perfumes all have a story to tell and are extremely evocative, calling to mind specific times and places in the perfumer’s life that you’ll find you share.
CB I Hate Perfume is available in two formulations: Absolute and Water Perfume.
Water Perfume? Christopher Brosius says it best in his own words:
I have never been happy with specially denatured alcohol as a base for fragrance; it evaporates quickly, dries the skin & hair and is highly flammable. Oil & water are what the skin naturally needs to hold fragrance the longest – I use those as the bases for all my perfumes instead. From an esthetic view, alcohol always interferes with the true nature of the scent and you need to wait for it to “burn off” before you can truly appreciate perfume. Without alcohol, my scents are presented immediately exactly as I designed them.
