The Scoop

Plein Jeu III-V opens with a soft lemon and ginger pairing that lends an aromatic lightness to the oily black pepper and cold, green frankincense. A wreath of fresh white jasmine and powdery, fluffy mimosa forms a frothy halo around the darker myrrh and balsam notes, lifting the accords into the air like notes of music. Filippo says that this scent was inspired by an endless dance of angels, and we can see that. It is as airborne as a curl of white smoke in a dark space.

RUFF!! My mommy says my flopsy doggy ears are like the wings of an angel whenever I shake my head and flap them. This is the smell they impart. The ingredients in the Sauf trio are blended like a smoothie. Mommy loves the black pepper in this one because she can envision the feet of angels as they dance above and circle her head, producing a halo. I'm sure that if I bark loudly enough, she will buy a full bottle of Plein Jeu III-V. *5 Chicken Liver Treats!!!!!*

My second sample from Sauf. Black pepper over tender white florals and a soft, almost hazy incense??? I read the description and didn't think Plein Jeu III-V would work for me at all, but I decided to give it a proper go after having sampled Contre Bombarde 32 and bought ME! a bottle of the happy juice yesterday morning! I think the delicate nature of this fragrance makes sense. To strengthen it would make it less "angelic" in my eyes. I'm rather liking the gauzy feel. A definite departure from my usual. Plein Jeu III-V is a pure smile devoid of an ulterior motive. *5 Stars*

Very unusual, light-heavy fragrance. Bright at the very beginning, then kind of floats into a beautiful wood/balsam softness. It's remarkably integrated, nothing really jumps out even tho there are a number of forceful personalities in this mix. For instance, you don't get VETIVER! or PATCHOULI! at any point. I don't know how the perfumer achieved this, but it is an incredibly soft fragrance for all that's in it. In fact, that is my only complaint — I wish it were stronger. Because as fragrance, it's pretty near perfect.
