Here's what other people are saying about Umbra...
Very nice! A decidedly old school citrus cologne scent with a ferny woody edge. Vibrant and clean.

A dry but fresh and resilient beginning of green herbal goodness with a peppery lift and a citris-like tang softens and sweetens over time to a beautiful, comforting spicy-mossy-grassy sort of smell that reminds me of ferns. I love it and can imagine myself wearing it. Lasts well on my fickle chemistry and throws tendrils of sweet, ferny sillage that are a pleasure to catch in the middle of doing other things.

This is a really nice, light, green, dry woody scent, but it is also sort of cozy. Soft fabric in a reed basket. I would have added a full bottle in my cart immediately if I hadn't grown up during the height of the CK One craze and had to smell it heavily applied by a bunch of teenagers. Umbra is much more refined and beautiful than CK One. To someone who really knows scents, maybe they smell completely different, but my nose is not sophisticated enough to keep them separate in my mind.

I find this refreshing and incredibly dry. The notes are all rather abstract, and so well blended that it is hard to pick them out, they read as a dry herbal slightly mossy vetiver. I do not get the usual sweet tonka bean note, but I think it probably saves the composition from being painfully dry. It is a powerful fragrance, with great projection and longevity. I made the mistake of applying rather liberally and regretted it while trapped in a hot theatre (so did the guy to my left). It has an odd, austere beauty, not classically beautiful. I can imagine Benedict Cumberbatch wearing this.

yum! I tried a sample pack of several by this perfumer and this was the one I loved the most, bought it, and love it even more. I love Vetiver, but this is a very different smelling Vetiver say then the Guerlain genre - the other scents (is it the musk or the moss) mixes in an intoxicating herbal way to create a delicious fusion of layers. It's hard to describe, but it's one of my new go to perfumes - love it!

Umbra is one of the most interesting fragrances in the entire Monegal range. I had tired of vetiver in perfume in general (quality issues) until Umbra revived my love for it. Umbra eschewis the seriousness of a classic chypre for a welcome playfulness that ends in a sweet puff of chartreuse. A Must-Try for those who worship at the Green Man's feet.
