Here's what other people are saying about Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar...
Very cheap smelling with a powdery finish. Longevity is minimal, silage is almost nil. I don't get much vanilla, truth be told: alcohol is the most pronounced smell, with a little lavender underneath and some other cheap notes. Fortunately it wears off very, very quickly.

My husband loves it. I also work closely with performers & it is not an overbearing smell, which people seem to love. Test it on your skin first. They are all very different. I've been wearing La Maison du Vanille for at least 10 years, and it is ALWAYS the scent I get the most compliments on.

After I received all 5 vanilla scents of La Maison de la vanille. Finally I have may decision, Madagascar is the best !!, all I want is a pure vanilla scent, and this is the answer after I'm desperately looking since L'Occitane vanilla parfume was discontinued.

This is so cozy and comforting that the one time I wore it to work I felt really tired and couldn't get my energy up. Totally a bedtime scent. It REALLY winds me down. I don't know if any one else has that reaction to it. But I don't wear it often because when I do, I don't feel like doing ANYTHING. Not sure if that's good or bad.

This is my favorite scent ever! I love love love vanilla but am kind of getting sick of smelling like a cupcake. This is the warmest vanilla with a nice earthy organic smell. It does have a slight masculine quality but the sweetness of the vanilla just compliments it so well. A very sexy, grownup vanilla perfume.

I bought this without trying it first. I wasn't wild about it, but it grew on me. You know what everyone says when I wear it? "What smells like marshmallows?" Very pleasant in the summer, vanilla and a soft woody note.

The bottles from sephora have and an exp date for sept 08. Read your bottles and if you go to the the La Maison de la Vanille website you will notice that they have new bottles. That is probably why Sephora had the mark down. To play it safe I would ask any etailer if you will be receiving the new bottle. Who wants a nearly exp fragrance anyway? I am a fan of all their fragrances Tahiti is my favorite and if I had to do without one it would be Antilles. If anyone knows if there has been a reformulation, please let us know.

this line is wonderful! but sephora.com has this for $10.oo! thi lasted for 3 hours at least on me.i smellthe spice and vanilla mainly. it borders masculine but the sweetness keeps it feminine a real tease!

I wanted to love this, but I've tried it twice now and the vanilla is way too muted for me. On me it smells like Shalimar and doesn't last very long. Twenty minutes, tops. Oh well.

VERY NICE! not too artificial smelling--smells woodsy yet not musky--and a great price, compared to others in this catagory! The bottle looks 'cool' too.

Sensual.Sexy. Not loud or over powering. It is a woodsy, spicey slightly masculine but definitely feminine scent. This is a grown-up Vanilla scent not at all like those fruity, sweet Vanilla fragrances .

Vanilla Sauvage is hands down one of the best fragrances out there on the market. It is perfect. Original ,sexy, fresh and comforting. It's affordable and does not smell cheap. In addition to being the best vanilla scent on the market I repeat it's just the best scent out there and I have purchased many fragrances. this scent is classic, chic and thank goodness does not appear to be well known by most women which makes it exclusive. It's just a great mature, classic day or night time scent.

Really nice! Not as full-on sweet vanilla on my skin as the others in the series. The woodsy notes balance it and give it an earthier feel. This is, on me, the least "foody" of the series. Very nice and sexy--great for summer or winter. You cannot beat it for the price.

This is the closest to a true vanilla in this range, but sprinkled with a really lovely herbaceous opening...the thyme is very crisp, yet warm in this..sort of like smelling grasses crshed underfoot on a hot day then combining with a slightly sweetened vanilla but not TOO. I don't really understand how people can find that a sweet Vanilla satifies...it doesn't really smell anything LIKE Vanilla...if you have ever cut a vanilla pod open you know that the smell of true vanilla is dark resinous and slightly woody..delicious but NOT sweet at all. It seems that the sweet vanilla lovers really just want a slice of vanilla cake, or meringue and to feel cosseted in a childhood smell. This vanilla is much more grown up.

I've been layering my lavender and vanilla scents for years and now I don't have to! Slightly woody and dry...not sugary sweet. It can be dressed up or down....LOVE IT!

If you're not a girly-girl, this may be the fragrance for you (if you have an appreciation for vanilla). Outdoorsy, adventurous. Sophisticated and sensual. And so tastefully understated :)

Madagascar is okay--powdery, woodsy, clean, but not super vanilla. I much prefer the Mexique to this one, as Madagascar isn't as sexy! Also a little too sweet for me at the end.
